Well, I'm a draftsman by trade, and the funky part came from one of those "suggestions" given by a web site when you've chosen a name already taken.

My usual moniker is "Evil_Overlord", but it seems that in the 5 years since I've adopted this name, there have been about 75 zillion other "evil_overlord"'s that have popped up. It was originally a twist of the whole "Howard the Duck" thing (and Speilburg put his name on that?). Then while in college, someone showed me a site about "the top 100 things not to do when you become an evil overlord". Do a search of "evil overlord"; it makes for some funny late night reading.

Now that I've turned this into an autobiography...

"Did we give up when the GERMAN's bombed Pearl Harbor?"

>"Did we give up when the
>GERMAN's bombed Pearl Harbor?"

Turns to others with raised eyebrows"Forget it,he's on a roll!"

Did you ever see the animated film Wizards? There was a assassin in it that was named necron99.So for my first Doom death match I
purposly mis-splelt nekron and dropped the 99 and have been using it ever since.

Abiltar:"He's a little trick ma showed me when you wern't around(pulls .45 aims and shoots."
Nekron

That was a pretty cool movie, I saw it in 3rd grade but haven't seen it again since.

Mmmm, where to start....

For this one, it's originally "The Roshambo Warrior", a nick I coined up for winning at a drinking game (rock-paper-scissors), even when losing.

As for other places, I used to go by a few, but there's a semi-secret one to the Fallout fandom that I've used over the years. It's one I took when my *older* nick was found to be in conflict with Bueche's, though I went by Chuckles the Sane (still do, in some places). The memories... Still keep in contact with Shapiro (Cat), and have even played lute for the real-life Iolo Fitzowen of Stones and a couple of his other pieces though harp is my preferred string (Watson, and the music composer for the Ultima games), and I'm a sort of marksman with crossbows, I've found at an SCA event (no Willheim Tell, though). That's mainly where I've gotten to know most of those people, is with my help on MUDs and MUCKs for the SCA. Also funny how many that have worked on Ultima in the past lament the wad of shit online game it's turned into. Particularly when Dick isn't there anymore.

Coincidentally, it was using my old nick when I ran into (years ago, late 80's, I believe) who is now perhaps one of the leading experts of online games, period. I consider her and Cat together to be perhaps the most knowledgeable people on online games in general and also role-playing online. Jessica Mulligan has been on the online gaming scene for a long time (since about 84, I think), and we know each other in one form or another, and have compared notes. I just *might* send in my rant to BTH about how the playerbase of online games has gone downhill overall - it's not the wide-eyed wonder people experienced when the networks were coming up, and at $5 an hour on GEnie, people sure as shit didn't fuck around acting like total idiots.

So, perhaps if you looked around the history of these people, you may find mention of one or more of my nicks, perhaps. ;) I've used more than a few, honestly. Keeps the popularity ass-kissing down and fanboying. I do get some at SCA events (not as much as Dick, the poor bastard) and also at some minor gaming cons (hate E3, it's more like a marketing ass-kissing scene).

isn't "roshambo" that thing where "I'll kick you in the nuts as hard as I can, and then you'll kick me in the nuts as hard as you can, then we keep going back and forth until someone falls"?

>isn't "roshambo" that thing where "I'll
>kick you in the nuts
>as hard as I can,
>and then you'll kick me
>in the nuts as hard
>as you can, then we

>until someone falls"?

Thus proving Parker's theory that people would rather learn from TV than from a teacher or a book.

South Park is a parody. Pa-ro-dy. Look it up.

First nick I ever used was 'Shadow' and that was on my high schools network of Apple Macs playing 'Bolo' "Get the pillbox! Get the pillbox!!!"

After a while, I found everyone used Shadow (duh..) So I change to Mr Bones. A name I still use occasionally, but eventually I played a demo of Wing Commander IV (thought it was crap), when you quit, a message popped up in DOS saying "You stop that, you scare my chickens! - Dark Overlord". I figured UNDERlord sounded better than OVERlord so I called myself DarkUnderlord.

Since then, on all my net-checks of the name, I've found it used as a reference to Satan or a powerful 'evil' figure in Fantasy books.

DarkUnderlord

You stop that! You scare my Chickens!

You might also find a HavokK that is usually me when playing something tactical (no not FO tactics) online.
That is a name i've used since the creation of rpg's when they asked your name, i tough it sounded cool. It's also after Alex Summers of the x-men with a second k because you 'd be surprised to see how many havoc, havok there are out there and now many many havokk s . So Ugly John bacame more usual.
I still use HavokK when paying dark zone (laser game) because i tought that i would not be taken seriously as Ugly John.

On the topic of comics, do you still read them, and if so, which ones?

My name is the name of my first PnP RPG Character (back in the early 90s)

Since that I've always used the name Shinan in almost every thing I do (the first guy in every computer game is Shinan, so I played Fallout, Baldur's Gate, heck even Final Fantasy VII with Shinan.

I tend to use him in shor-stories aswell 8^)

Although he's getting a little old, nowadays when we play PnP-RPGs it's:
"Don't tell me, that guy's name is Shinan right?"
"umm... well actually yes... But DO come up with a better name yourself, everyone can't be called Paavo"
"Yes, but there are five Shinans on this ship already."
"yeah, yeah whatever his name'll be..."

Shinan
-I'm just a nationalistic Swedish-speaking Finn
"Aivan, mutta suomalaiset juovat toki olutta"

I don't relly buy them anymore, alot i mean.
I will sometimes pick-up a copy of x-men, wich were my favorites.
I did always like the x-teams : x-men, uncanny x-men, x-factor, excalibur, and some of their know offs mini-series.
Now that they will reveal Wolverine true story i'm probably buy that, unless they turn it in a infinity war cross-over madness where to have the full story you would have to buy every marvel out that month.
I already have a lot of comics over 800, mostly Marvel. I have almost every "important" books on Wolverine like the marvel presnts wich featured him as weapon X.

Wich one do you read?

I am fully aware that South Park is a parody. I just don't see how that is related to the topic?

Mine was originally given to me on a C=64 BBS back in '88 by a friend of mine who ran the thing. It was called Tombstone, and was a western themed thing. He gave me the name Skinny Pate, (I guess because I was skinny and my real name is Pat(rick) add an "e") now ten years later (I stopped counting at ten) I have been using it ever since, but my last dial-up account would only let me have eight characters for my user name... Luckily I am still skinny... Blah-betity-blah, I sure did love TradeWars back then... LORD how things have changed... As a 12 or 13 year old back then I wonder what kind of fool mistakes 12 or 13 year olds are making these days that they will come to regret 12 years from now (or thirteen, or fourteen, once again, I stopped counting) at least there isn't that much of a paper trail to follow to find out what kind of an idiot I was back then, but then you can still see what kind of an idiot I am now...

I hope that made sense as I can legally drink and surf now... haha surfing didn't exist back then! haha, I remeber a board that had four modems and I was amazed to see anyone else on at the same time... Wow... Sorry about getting nostalgic....

I cannot see anywhere where you explain what "roshambo" means, and that episode of South park is the only time I've ever heard the word before. Therefore I don't think you should start going on about how people would rather learn from a TV than a book or a teacher

Well, my name is obviously derived from Fallout, except with the added "a". Of course you already knew that.

Actually, until South Park, I'd only heard the term "roshambo" applied to that paper-scissors-rock game.

Again,

My first post in this thread, second paragraph, READ.

>Actually, until South Park, I'd only
>heard the term "roshambo" applied
>to that paper-scissors-rock game.

Which, coincidentally, is what I wrote, but it appears....

AHHH let me help!

and i quote
"For this one, it's originally "The Roshambo Warrior", a nick I coined up for winning at a drinking game (rock-paper-scissors), even when losing."
So y'all see rock-paper-scisor ding-ding-ding we have a winner.

This is the first paragraph of your first post (at least according to french syntax) because the first line by itself would be the adressing of the topic. Then again this is according to french syntax.
