Van Buren screenies galore

Re: More of the same

Well then tell them to release those docs to us, as we could cherish then and put them to good use.

Good use for FOBOS docs? Like using them as toilet paper?

I think he meant the FO1 and FO2 docs.

And anyway, aren't the FO:POS docs already toilet paper used for Chuckie's mental defecations?

As I was told, Bethesda was not given any of the Van Buren materials. They were given all the FOBOS stuff, though, if that would cheer you up. For VB stuff, you'd have to ask Herve.

Why didn`t they said that before?
Van Buren Codes/Docs:

So we can assume that whatever work was done over at Black Isle on Fallout 3 -- the "Van Buren" project -- is not being used?
Pete Hines: It's a little too early to talk about whether we'd be using any assets.

When VanBuren was shut down by Interplay, the development team at Black Isle was already well into development. What resources, if any, are you going to be salvaging?
Pete Hines: I don't know what assets we'll be using from any previous projects.

As a followup to the above, will you be using Black Isle's original Fallout 3 design document?
Pete Hines: I don't know if anyone in our office has seen that design document and how much of it we'd use or not use. Again, too early to say.

So are you working with the previous Interplay "Van Buren" assets and developers, or are you starting from scratch with a new engine and assets?
Pete Hines: Too early to talk about that kind of thing.

Will Bethesda's Fallout 3 retain any elements of the "Van Buren" game that was in development at Black Isle Studios? Reports are that it was nearly complete.
Todd Howard: No, we're going to start fresh.

I mean why did they asked Teatime to find out who had the Vb stuff and didn`t simply contacted the former Van Buren devs? Or us that we`re in touch ith the people gathering BIS memorabilia and assets? And if they only got so few things from Interplay why didn`t they contacted the Fallout and Fallout2 people? And how did they only got that from Interplay anyway, there is art, design docs and builds from the three games in the hard disks that were stored at the warehouse, wasn`t Herve obliged to give them everything?

And is NMA scary to the point that they didn`t even remembered to talk to the NMA team about these issues? I mean NMA did the most comprehensive reports about Van Buren and has a pretty interesting index of contacts and a fair amount of knowledge and experience about the previous games, that came from the source of those games and from so many years of discussions, didn`t they thought NMA might help out?

At least we have a good argument now to convince the people that have Van Buren and released Fallout games stuff to give NMA more stuff in order to make it public, so it can help out Beth to sort out the details on the Fallout games and the choices made in the past, in order to produce better Fallout games, since they aren´t asking for it themselves.

Oh but acording to Mr.SmileyDude talking about Van Buren is useless since the game is dead, so maybe NMA could get stuff from the other games to Beth and release the Van Buren stuff just to the fans, in order to give ideas to modders and start discussions about game setting, visuals and mechanics tweaks. Any thoughts?
