Van Buren text available

Ausir, of The Vault [currently down], has extracted the text file for the recently released Van Buren tech demo. Aside from what you encounter in the demo, the file contains dialogue from the larger game. The included text seems to cover parts of the Mesa Verde, Jericho, Grand Canyon, and Blackfoot tribe areas.

A short example of the dialogue, note that this is edited, and the raw text is in a much more disorganized state:
PC: It sounds like you've got High Desert Fever. It's not contagious, but it'll eventually kill you if it isn't treated.
Radian: *cough* Can you help me?
PC: Yes, I can. The fever can be treated with common medicines available in my doctor's bag.
Radian: Thank you. *cough*

PC: [Pull out supplies from your doctor's bag and give Radian the cure.]
Radian: Wow! I feel much better already! Thanks, doctor!
PC: I'll check back in an hour to see how you're doing. Goodbye.

PC: [Use supplies from your doctor's bag to give Radian some extremely addictive painkillers instead of the cure.]
Radian: *cough* Wow... I'm feeling pretty good... and sleepy.
PC: Why don't you just take a nap now, and I'll come see you again in a few hours.
Radian: I'll do that. Thanks, doctor.

Radian: Please! I need more medicine. I have no money, but I'll do anything. Anything!

PC: Sing for me.
Radian: Uh... okay. Ahem. "Give me a kiss to build a dream on, and my imagination will thrive upon that kiss. Sweetheart, I ask no more than this: a kiss to build a dream on."
PC: Nice, very nice.

PC: Anything, huh? Would you sabotage the wind turbine?
Radian: I can't do that! We couldn't make any more water, and we'd all be doomed!
PC: Well, I guess you don't need more medicine after all, then. I'll just go sell it, or maybe throw it away, or feed it to an ill-tempered brahmin...
Radian: No, no! Wait! You bastard, what have you done to me? I'll do what you ask, just give me the medicine.
This is another fascinating glimpse into Black Isle's Fallout 3.

Thanks to Mikael Grizzly, the text has been separated into discrete sections. Download the segregated text.

Thank you Ausir, and good work.

That would be a great help.

Do you have a format in mind? The branching dialogue makes it a bit tricky, not to mention the dumb/normal paths. Taking into consideration the lack of cues as to dialogue progression, it will also take a fair amount of guesswork.

Well, dividing it into individual dialog files for different NPCs would be a good start.

By the way, this is from my conversation with Briosafreak 15 minutes before I extracted the text:

[17:42] ausir@master.pl: btw, is there any way to extract the text from Van Buren demo files?
[17:42] Briosafreak: text? don't think so

Already on it. Most of Mesa Verde is done, along with bits from Jericho. I also try my best to separate the quest and items/scenery desc. text.
EDIT:

Me tell Anson that Lane steal from him. Now he swing from rope. Err, Lane swing, not Anson.

EPIC!

EDIT2:

NCR ACTION FIGURES!

Atually, this dialoque is even better than I hoped it would be. It still has that screwball kind of thing about that I especially liked in Fallout 3.

It's also nice to see that developers do have humour, too.

Sad :( - this game never were to be.

I do think it could have been a very great game.

Awesome +2

Some brilliant stuff. Good and evil ways to do the same quest, stupid path, humor, etc. A great example of what makes a FALLOUT game.

another nostalgic tear just dropped out of my eye...

the dialogues are really fallouty..

my my my, what will we see next, source code hopefully or anything that any of the dev's care to leek to the community.

Okay, Mikael Grizzly's segregated version has been updated into the news post. Because of the bundle's small size, there are no lines on 3D Downloads. Thanks Mikael!

I've uploaded f3_unpacker earlier today, it allows you to extract data files (from .grp and .rht files). The package also contains source. I still haven't figured out a way to play the rest of the maps. That could probably be done with console, but haven't found any commands for it :( .

You'll just have to wait for admin to aprove it.
