Vault 15 Replica Map Video Made with Half-Life 2 Gary's Mod

The Vault Dweller

always looking for water.
A special treat for everyone today! If you've had the luck to play Half-Life 2 you know how great it is and perhaps you've tinkered with Gary's mod hoping to be an aspiring mod-maker or just having fun with your imagination. Well it seems one of the numerous fans of the game and mod utility put a substantial amount of time and effort into make an exact replica of Vault 15 with Gary's mod in Half-Life 2. See it here;

Vault 15 in first person done with the Half-Life 2 engine.

I'm thoroughly amazed at the quality of the graphics of the engine and also the creators obvious good use of the proper skins, colors, etc. to really make it nostalgic. I almost had flashbacks to the Fallout 1 introduction movie clip where you leave the Vault while watching this.

For those of you even interested in downloading this map it's called "cscdesert".

I thank Mareboro for reporting this to all of us at NMA.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Modders must make contact with this gentleman. Fallout FMVs could be made. In fact, Beth should look into this guy. Sure, he probably doesn't know squat about working with their engine, but he could be taught.

Aside from the Vault door it's pretty bland. With some extra detail it would make a sweet map for WHL2 (RIP).

I'd be impressed if someone took that Vault 13 cross section loading screen and mapped the entire thing in HL2. There's so much stuff going on. Add citizens walking around doing stuff and you have a pretty sweet opening scene to Fallout 3.

He did this all alone?! Amazing!!! Not only Beth, any softhouse can have this guy in their team; if he did it all alone, using a modding tool, think what he could do with full developing programs and some partners!

It is great, I didn't expect it to be so nice.

I like how he cares about details. He uses a passkey chosen from a weapon slot instead of just running through the vault to show it. Computers and screens look realistic. Each doors open in the same way as in Fallout.

Impressive.
I was thinking before watching, dirty old vault.
This is well done. More filth and atmospheric music and sounds would make it more complete.

Hm, must have submitted this right around when Mareboro did! It had 62 views on the video when I first saw it

I can't believe my eyes. Wasn't FPP supposed to be BAD for Fallout?! Wasn't it "isometric or fuck off"? What happened to you guys? Too much jet, or what?

P.S. If you think that gfx/textures in this demo are nice, then you surely never seen interior screenshots in Oblivion...

Look at their post counts. :D

OMG! FO3!

This video proves that fps-view is not the best way to allow player to see everything on screen. You have to move the camera 360 to gather information and it's a tedious work.
Isometric allows player to have the information on screen all at the same time without limiting the player's view-point.

Yeah, cool... but I HATE FPP based games. Some guy is running around locations and what I see on the screen? Hand/hands or combinations of hand/hands + gun/guns. Interesting, really...

Agree.

Anyway, nice job with the vault location ;)

I had similar thoughts while watching this video. Also, FPP view makes movement seem to be ragged and crude. I don't want my AG-10 character to move like this.
Also, it makes game look a bit obsolete, like some kind of Akalabeth, or something...

This isn't exactly a Fallout game, is it? We can't appreciate a bit of fan art?
If this were the gameplay in the real game (including combat), though, that'd pretty much suck.
