Vendor Trash

morkani

First time out of the vault
I would like to compile a list of stuff that is 100% vendor trash, things that have no purpose in the game that us horders can vendor without guilt.
(IE: tin can's would NOT count as vendor trash because there's a perk you can get which uses it to make ammo.)

please post things you know for sure are vendor trash, or things you aren't sure of and would like answered if it is. I'll keep this updated as people post.

Teddy Bears may be useless to you, but I've gotten a kick out of collecting them. You should see my bed in the lucky 38. I have to access it from the side since it's so covered in bears.

Also, burned/scorched/ruined/raped books DO have a function. They can be used to make blank books, which can then be used to make skill books with the book chute in the sink.

"book chute?, in the sink?, you talking about in the presidential suite & lucky 38?

The Sink is the base you get with Old World Blues. There's a Book Chute there that can process the books into blank books that can be turned into skill books. In fact, the sink has other sentient appliances that make other "vender trash" such as coffee mugs, tin plates, toasters, and empty bottles useful.

CRAP, so back to feeling guilty for selling anything lol

It's all in the name of balance. It's rediculous, but we can't have people making a shit load of skill books. People are already exploiting the level cap.

There aren't that many books in the game though, if people want to spend that much time trekking across the Mojave in search of pre-war books to raise their skills by a couple of points then I say let them. It's not really an exploit if you have to spend hours to do it.

Well people can always just use console commands and get more than enough books. But where is the fun that?

You also need like 450 books to make one skill book though.

You mean 25, right? It's 25 pre-war books to make a skill book.

Also, you can't really exploit this because you need a special holodisk to make the skill books, and there's only one holodisk per skill, as far as I can tell.

I thought it was like 450 blank books. And I didn't seem to get a whole lot of blank pages from any books.

It's 25, and one of the appliances in the Sink will make all books blank so you can create the skill books.

OWB also adds uses for other junk items such as pencils and clipboards (for use with the book chute when it's upgraded) and cofee mugs and tin plates for Muggy, cofee pots too when upgraded.

Every book gives you one blank page. In Higgs Village you can find more than 100 pre-war books so you can already make at least 4 skill books.

ok, this is all good info, but let's get back to the topic....i've updated pre-war, burned, scorched and the like as being usable to make skill books, but what about the other things on the list?

Wait. Why is beret on the list? That's a wearable item, right?

I don't know why the medical brace is on the list. If you're going to include that, may as well include the surgical tubing as well. And both are pretty damned useful in making doctor's bags. Especially if you're playing hardcore mode.

What does it matter to you what exploits other people do in a singleplayer game?

the list is a list of items that i didn't know what they did, i'm looking for items that have NO purpose whatsoever, so i'll move medical brace because i apparently overlooked that it was used in doctors bag.

i'm looking for other items that belong on this list, or reasons items on the list should be removed, thanks for the contribution :)
