Vertibird in Operation Anchorage?

What's up with that? Is it just so that fans would be drooling by seeing something they saw before, or is it actually justified? I thought Vertibirds hadn't been finished until long after the war by the Enclave.
I'm not necessarily spitting at FO3, I'm just curious about the lore.

The second entry dated September 6, 2077 tells of how Chase was making elaborate changes to the simulation which the writer of the entry felt were "divorced from reality," and that he was sure that the real Anchorage Reclamation had never happened the way Chase portrayed it. The writer goes on to say that everyone was beginning to think Chase was going insane, but no one confronted him because they feared that the military would take over the project. At the very end, the writer questions why running the simulation was necessary anymore, since "any tactical data was mined months ago".

In particular, the VB-02 Vertibirds were present in the simulation in full operational capacity when in fact they wouldn't even reach prototype stage until much later. There is also doubt over the plausibility of Chimeras as shown in the simulation, since no other source material on the Reclamation makes any mention of it.

You should still check out the entire article. Gotta love referencing stuff:

On topic, it looks pretty:

Don't get me wrong. I was just saying that it sounded a tad fishy that the explanation for Vertibirds in Alaska was General Chase making them up.

This sounds much more believable. :)
It is possible that certain prototype models were used in the latter stages of the Anchorage Reclamation.

Just checked out that wiki page on the early concept art for the Vertibirds in Fallout 3.
Damn those things were ugly, they seem more fitting for a game like Gears of War than the Retro Future esque Fallout universe.

What was this obsession with Beth to have all Fallout designs and concepts reimaginged? Some stuff barely looked/looks retro future at all.
