Video Card Help, Again

I appreciate everyone's input. Here you go Phil :cookie: , thanks for the help man.

I will let you know how it works, once I get it installed and all.

BTW, what's the best port to use on a graphics card, HDMI or DVI? My monitor doesn't have a DVI port, only VGA and HDMI.

I've been connected through one of those little VGA to DVI converters. (VGA for the monitor and DVI for the card). Should I do the same for this next card or use HDMI?

Don't double post.

Also, HDMI = DVI with an added audio stream. Video quality should not differ between the two, and you should always use DVI or HDMI over VGA.

How do I bump a thread without double posting?

So HDMI > DVI to VGA converter?

Avoid converters as much as possible. Any conversion degrades the quality. So yes, HDMI (or DVI) is always better.

Also, you can always delete the latest post if you're the latest poster. So you could delete your latest and repost it with your edit.

HDMI it is. Thanks.

Well, I received the card and installed it and it's a freaking beast indeed.

Just tested it with Crysis and I get around 25fps on all Very High and AAx4, which is pretty badass. I can't even play that game now, I just load it up and stare at it.

The only thing I dislike is the sound its fan makes but I can live with it. Thanks again for the help.

Just a heads up, the 4 Series runs at about 70 - 80 Degrees in idle depending on case ventilation. Does your case have high airflow?

My tower is pretty small so I had to get crafty with the PSU wires but I think it's decent in there. If the card's CCC is to be trusted, it runs at around 60C with 41% fan speed in idle. I don't think it's too bad.

Ah ok. 41% fan speed is fairly high though, my 4870s run at 75 degrees at 30% fan speed ingame, so that explains why your complaining about noise. Mine won't break 40 unless i tell it to, hence its fairly quiet.

Keep an eye on the temperatures ingames, especially stuff like Crysis. ATI Cards are really well built, so it shouldn't be a problem, but more of a precaution if your case is small and its pushing for 40% while idle.

Very nice. Glad to hear it's working out.
