Guys, just FYI - I'm currently working on an FOV hack for Halo 2 (XP) and I'll see if I can get anything resolved about that damned crosshair location.

Just the FOV being fixed alone will do the trick. It'll take me a while, but I'll post my discoveries with you, if you guys even want to bother playing this game.

Is there any official explanation for these retarded decisions about the FOV and the crosshair?

It's a console game, there's no need for an explanation.
