Wasteland 2 tidbits

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
Since the last time we posted about Wasteland 2 a few tidbits on the title have come to our attention.

First, Colin McComb seems quite pumped up about it judging by a short chat he had with Eurogamer.

Second, Brian Fargo has explained on Twitter that the writer/designer team includes 12 people in total, not all of them announced.

And third and final, inXile's "DarkTwinkie" has said on the official forums that they're interested in getting the game on GOG. Hopefully the GOG folks won't try to set the price for inXile, but we'll see, I guess.

I thought about going ahead and ask him how many writers/designers are usually required for a game like Wasteland 2, but I didn't want to pry. 12 sounds like a lot to me, but I really have no idea.

Is Jason Anderson still working on the project? I thought he just helped Brian develop the overall storyline and that was it? I'll be delighted to be wrong, he's a great writer, but I thought I had heard that mentioned in a news article somewhere.

He's been gone for a while now. Works for Turtle Rock. Still does, as far as I know.

12 is pretty high for a small project, yes, but it just shows where their priorities are. Remember though, they're not all full-time for the duration of the project, and 12 probably covers area and level design too.

Sounds like they're old schooling it a bit where people dip in and out of different areas rather than being stuck doing just one thing.

Many reputations and financial assets at stake, not only for Fargo but for Obsidian (if one day they want to launch a kickstarter old school cRPG) and other "celebrities" involved too.
And will the market respond positively ?
A failure could mean the end old school TB cRPG, except really low budget ones made by tiny independant developpers.
Very exciting gamble :D
