Wasteland Workshop trailer revealed; Pokemon fans wet themselves

i don't understand the love Pokemon gets, the games solid and enjoyable but they've been releasing the same game for about 20 years, only occasionally adding a new gimmick or dimension.

A lot of people have this complaint about Nintendo, but they seem to not realize that their main audience is children, not whoever was playing their game in the nineties. Children today are unlikely to have played Majora's Mask or Super Mario World or Pokemon Silver; to a child, the tired and repeated formula in Pokemon Y is brand-new and exciting. Sure, they make some token efforts to include older audiences but generally speaking Nintendo is focused on one demographic and one demographic alone.

I haven't played any of their recent games, but IPs like Mario Kart manage to sell so well because of A. Brand recognition and B. they're simplistic enough that "more of the same" with a few new gimmicks is motivation enough to buy it.

I used to play Pokemon when it first released period up until ruby and saffire then quit playing but from what I seen a lot of those newer Pokemon look repulsive and some remind me of the garbage pail kids. Don't get the appeal for it nowadays.
