Water found on the red planet!?

Mars' atmosphere is too hostile to support any type of life more complex than microbes.

It is now. Who's to say it was always hostile?

Underground cities of little gray men come to mind. Or, now we can send ships loaded with convicts to extract the water and build homes for colonists and work the mines for large corporations.

The very idea that microbes exist on Mars has some implications beyond purely scientific. The idea that life can thrive in such hostile conditions, even if it is just microbial, further reinforces our confidence that we aren't the only intelligent (hah) beings out there. That's what's most important to me, at least...

But let's see how long we can enjoy Mars before the global community starts apportionment, followed by the ensuing bickering over materials and real estate...

120,000 year old bacteria found in Greenland.

I think I pointed this out already ;)

But yes, the chance of intelligent beings out there is pretty much 99% :)

I know 100% there are intelligent beings out there. I won't say how but I do just trust me on this :P
