weapon question: Vindicator MG or Bozar?

Once you get Sniper it really doesn't matter, you should be able to liquidate anything in the game with ease.

Personally I prefer a gauss pistol over either of them but hey.

Atm, I still use the bozar, as it does more damage to the enemies I encounter: fire geckos, mercenaries, hubologists, deathclaws and PowerArmor MK2.
But: I only habe 8 AP, that makes it sometinh uncomfortable playing with the bozar.
I also picked the sniper-skill, but not the bonus ranged damage :-s

Sniper skill depends on your Luck so it needs to be fairly decent or you won't get the crits the perk gives.

I'd say Bozar because of its more common ammo, even when I find Vindicator doing more damage all around.

If you pick the right perks...

...furthermore, you'll have to reload every even round. So that's actually 3.5 bursts per turn (though I'd be surprised you'd leave anything standing after four bursts).

I didn't necessarily mean per turn, just that it doesn't need to be reloaded that often. If you get off 2 bursts and 2 the next on it's still better than 2 bursts on one round and 1 on the next.
But yeah, with 10 AG + 2 Action Boys, Bonus ROF and Fast Shot, you actually get 4 bursts from the Vindicator per turn.

That said, I still prefer the Bozar for allround use.

^Eh? Am i missing something?

Normmaly VM burst requires AP = 6 to use

-1 FS, -1 BROF = AP 4

12AP total 12/4 = 3 shots per round surely?

I once took the Vindicator to the oil rig and it did considerably less damage than any other weapon I had. So I stuck with Gauss-Rifle and Bozar.

Yeah, it was meant to be 2.5, guess I typed too fast and got carried away.

Lord Elden was hit in in the head for 15 points of damage. The hit reduced intelligence by a couple of points...

Yeah, it's supposed to be *3* per round. I blame HoKa for misleading me.

Anyone else here think the idea of a Gauss gatling cannon is the most rediculous thing they've ever heard?

I wonder how such a thing would work.

Also it was made in China to kill power armor.

HOW THE HELL DID IT END UP IN THE MID WEST!

I have honestly never even used the Vindicator because of the fact I have a distaste for mini-guns since I almost always end up killing large amounts of people I do not intend on killing. I prefer accurate weapons instead of burst weapons, in fact I would [and have] played the game just using a knife, although that is a different story.

Bozar.

San Fran probably. The original Chinese decsendants might of had one or two on their submarine.

I don't use either really, prefer the good ol' .223 pistol though I did use the Bozar for a bit but got annoyed with it's small clip.

A gauss weapon runs current through a series of wires wrapped around a barrel to generate a powerful magnetic field. It switches the wires on one after another to pull a magentic object down the barrel. They actually have working versions, but right now, they're either too weak or use up too much energy to be practical as a weapon. However, they can accelerate objects much faster than a normal gun, and produce no noise. Also, the only moving part is the projectile going down the barrel, so it would never jam and would take a very long time to wear down. If they have Microfusion Cells and such, It's definitely possible that they've developed more efficient electromagnets, or a more energy-efficient way to do it.
More info is on the Wikipedia article.

Well, the US probably had it's own version. I think that the Chinese one was just built specifically to fight against power armor. They could have made it fire a larger or denser bullet. It would be able to penetrate, or at least damage, power armor, at the cost of being heavier and harder to use. It would be much more effective than normal weapons. The gauss rifles you use in Fallout are probably the US version.

Back on topic, I prefer the Bozar, because I normally play a sniper-type character, and also because you can find ammo for it pretty much anywhere, whereas the 4.7mm Caseless is rare, and can only be bought from 2 stores. It's also alot more expensive, but with all the stealing I do, I normally have a ton of things I want to sell by the end game.

I wouldn't say that 4.7mm Caseless is completely rare. You can farm it near San Fran, mostly from hubologist. Besides one thing that was suposed to be important, 4.7mm Caseless is lighter then .223 ammo thus you can carry more. But that point was defeated by car trunk.
And about Gauss gatling cannon, personally I liked it, but its flaw in Tactics was its short range. Tough that didnt stop me using it. Mostly in tight places, otherwise Vindicator did the job with its greater range. In Fallout 2 Bozar is strange creature, like MG Barret.

Yeah, there are ways to get plenty of 4.7mm caseless, but you can buy .223 from any gun store, and almost every raider group had one or two people with hunting rifles, so it would be easier to get ammo for the Bozar.

Definitely Bozar. Looks better on your character (I hate the minigun-cock thingy), more common ammo, more bullets per burst (that means reloading after each two bursts, yes, but by that time there's hardly anything you've got to reload ammo to kill, and with 12 PA and even without Fast Shot, or with it and without Bonus Rate of Fire, you basically get 2 bursts and a reload [2*5 + 2] each turn. Add Bonus Move and you can walk a bit as well. Same goes for the Vindicator, obviously).
