Bethesda has all Fallout documentation. They have access to a shitload more stuff in and out of official canon then we do. The only reason to read the Vault would be to shake their heads and go "if they only knew how it was originally designed"
Well, Chuck Cuevas also had access to all the Fallout documentation, and look what he came up with: Los... Even Fallout 2 had numerous inconsistencies with the first game.
