What are your current/dream Video Cards?

Im going to assume your talking about the Mobility series. Are you looking for a PCI-E or AGP slot card? The X00 series is currently PCI-E only, so you would do best to keep that in mind. The AGP series is 7500 to 9800.

If you're going for the X00 series, you should'nt waste your money on a 600 (pretty much obsolete for any 2004 + game). I would go for the X800 (more bang for your buck).

If you're going for the AGP cards, I STRONGLY suggest the 9800.

I hope this helps

I'm talking laptops, not an upgrade. The x600 chipset is the highest I've seen so far that I can afford.

/edit: The reason I'm asking is, I want to know if it will be able to run Fallout 3* when it comes out, and won't be too out of date by then. Plus my laptop runs games for shit right now. I hate intel graphics chipsets. Even the newest one doesn't support h t/l.

*I'm still assuming it will use the Oblivion (or similar) engine.

Current: GeForce 5700 LE (don't ask)

Dream: GeForce 7800GTX. Currently available at about 500 euros here, but the price is bound to drop by at least 100 euros within the month. I SHALL buy it before Oblivion comes out, no matter what

Dove, what is the price range you are willing to spend on the laptop? Give me a price range and I'll customize an alienware laptop to the best items for that cost.

ALIENWARE?

oh dear lord!

the "we buy overpriced stuff, put it in a new package, overclock it & sell it even more overpriced"-company?

Ditto.

About $1000 - $1300. Not looking for uberratty spec machine obviously, just good enough to play some real games now, and still be good enough to run Fallout 3.

I'm using an ATI X800 Pro 256 MB AGP.

I'd want a liquid cooled system using dual whatever-the-hell-plays-games-all-pretty-like-without -the-slowdowns cards.

Either/or.

They both offer the same graphics chipsets for similar cost.

I'm 99% sure that Alienware laptops are just Sager laptops that have been relabeled, so it's pretty funny that they're so cheap. No computer owner with any common sense or knowledge would ever buy anything from Alienware anyway, that company only exists because most gamers are so gullible and so easily turned into mindless zombie consumers by hype and advertising.

Hehhehehe, the stories I could tell about Dell. Let's just say that most of what people call Dell-ware (no, not third party software and hardware) is actually made in a plant were they'll re-label it as Dell. Dell TVs? Dell monitors? HHAAHAHAHAHA.
