What are your political beliefs and leanings?

I would say libertarian, but then I'd get rounded up with the Ron Paul "Roads should be owned by McDonalds" and "police should be privatized" types. Which I absolutely do not agree with. So I'd say I'm more of a classical liberal.

I'm kind of over classifying my views. Everyone is so hung up on ideological terms and who's this or that, that people don't seem to be thinking for themselves. It's more important to be against something and hating on who you're being told to hate than to actually try to think of how to change things for the better. On top of that, ideologies and political beliefs have been so twisted and muddled that most no longer mean what they were intended to mean, and can mean very different things in different parts of the world or even in different groupings.

That said, I'm a socialist that believes in equality and that technological and economical progress should benefit everyone. I do not however believe that people should not be allowed to be rich, have power and ownership. But if wealth and welfare was more evenly distributed and if social classes were more balanced, we would all benefit from it. The more people who can get educated, survive illness and live a happy life, the more people will be able to contribute to society and push progress forward.

Libertarian Republican who grew up Methodist with a Socialist Democrat wife who grew up Eastern Orthodox. As you can imagine we don't discuss politics with each other much.

I'm someone who believes schools, hospitals, and prisons shouldn't be in the business of making money. I'm a staunch defender of the Constitution and the rights of the individual. I think government and big business in bed together have completely destroyed the American political landscape and is only getting worse, I swear it's like catching a burglar in the act and the cop that shows up is his brother. I'm one of the many Americans who feel our two party system is out of hand and the only difference between the two are the face of the boogeyman they use to scare their base.

Although I am a veteran and sworn to uphold the constitution I must say. I have no political affiliation. I say this because I don't understand why we need to be affiliated with any particular view point to the point of a label. I am an individual, I want to be free from regulation and taxation. I want to live my life the way I see fit without having another person with the "right" to tell me what I can or cannot do.

If I could I would happily disappear into the wilderness never to be seen again simply because all of this regulation in my opinion is insane and pointless. If people cannot survive nor defend themselves I believe they should be eradicated though natural selection and not held up by the community because of moral obligations.

I strongly feel religion has no place in any form of government, and I do not agree nor consent to dealing with individuals who require someone to tell them how to exist in this world.

If you, an individual cannot make your own choices, and are not free to think for yourself then you are not free, you are a slave.

I have seen enough of the world to know that no form of government is perfect nor correct. We all live under corrupt regimes that "attempt" to do their best, but all that ever really amounts to is more regulation, more unlawful taxation, and less choices for the individuals trying to exist under their thumb.

How I wish I could simply exist without having to worry about my neighbors feelings and predilections. A world without unlawful taxes for property I already own or made.

Center right libertarian.

Focus on responsibilization policies instead of outright bans.
Be tough on crime.
Simplify taxation (get rid of special exemptions and preferential treatment, put it into flat rate exemptions instead).
Drive for empowerment of supranational & local government levels, decrease power of regional/provincial & state government.
Increase research in "cleaner" nuclear power generation options, such as molten salt reactors.
Legalize, regulate & tax soft drugs.
Permissive gun laws (allow CCW & suppressors).
No kneejerk reactions to current events.
No safe zones & trigger warnings in education.
True equality in race, gender, whatever. No quotas. No preferential treatment. Example: if women want to become frontline soldiers, that's fine, but the physical standards they need to achieve are identical to males in the same combat roles.
Secular government goes without saying.
Smaller sized, more focused government.
Extreme freedom of speech. Things like the holocaust should be questioned, as everything should be questioned. You should be able to make fun of everything, even religion.

Also, make more posts like "." and you're headed for a ban.
If you think it's worthwhile to make a thread about something, write an actual post about it.

That's exactly how I feel about it

and sorry, I thought that the question sufficed and didn't see the need to write anymore details on the question, but I'll be sure to avoid doing that in the future

I have many beliefs, One of those being that we shouldn't pay vultures aka health care and car insurance companies my money for shitty deals in the end that make me end up paying more in co-payments and deductibles then it would if it was all bought by universal healthcare.

If you are interested in clean energy, compressed wood chip is one of the best choices. We use it in the wood burner, it burns hot, and releases about 0.7% Carbon Dioxide.
Wood chip seems like a cop-out to me. You still need to grow it, harvest it, transport it, process it, transport it again and you then burn it releasing exhaust fumes. That has costs.

Nuclear seems better to me, since it's reliable (unlike many renewables) and not entirely destructive, especially if we can get molten salt reactors to work properly in the long run (and even recycle old fuel waste from the previous reactors while at it).
It still produces some waste and obviously the reactor itself remains an issue as well, but compared to the other alternatives, it almost seems too good to be true.
(which doesn't mean there's no place for renewables in my perfect world)

Left in both economic and social issues. Next to Gandhi in the political roadmap-thing.

- On some issues I differ though. I'm not in favour of legalizing soft drugs. I'm not necessarily in favour of locking up soft drug users, I prefer treatment and education for them. Distributors should go to jail though.
- I'm for strict gun control.
- For Europe, it might be good if there was a EU-wide national service for people, either armed service or civilian service for both men and women. You'd be exempted if you are not able bodied. I think that way we could have a big reserve pool from which to draw from and have less of need for stuff like nukes etc.
- State and church should be separated (they are not over here in Finland).
- Strong protection against hate speech against race, gender, religion, ethnicity, etc. Native people's rights should be raised in importance.
- Take care of all nature better.
- Energy? Try to focus more on renewables, solar, wind, etc. Less hydroelectricity that chains rivers, if it doesn't chain rivers from fish etc. then use it. Use modern nuclear with big reservations. My country Finland is one of the places where nuclear waste is stored, so, yea. It's not without some problems.

Oh God.

Well, I believe in the idea of equal opportunities, I think if you want to work as an artist, you should follow that passion. I also believe the Government cracking down on Artistic subjects yet trying to make tributes for other artists whom have passed away to be highly hypocritical (I'm from the UK, our Prime Minister is basically a wet sausage).
I think Health Care benefits everyone, I don't really know what our Country would be without the NHS.
I also think Big Businesses fuck with the general person.

I could just add more onto my politics, but I'll be here forever.

I thought you were gay? It's none of my business but i remember you making some comments about finding Vance attractive.

Who the Hell is Vance? ._. No seriously, I don't know who that is.

And if I was saying it to another user, it was probably meant as playful banter. Nope, I'm a married man. Have been since March of this year.

My bad man. Again it ain't none of my business anyhow.

I mean in which ever direction I feel is best for the situation or topic at hand. Mostly left but if you agree with one side on everything that's a bit suspicious.

I would say out of everything I've seen of this thread, this is the nearest to what I'll be.
