So far I am very disapointed with the game. Game play is down, control is down, and the only thing that remain the samne quality as FO1&2 id the music, only because it is the SAME music as FO1&2
Things I didn't quite like about FT-BoS-Demo:
1: How clumsy it is to move in and out of that underground cavern. It took me a good minute or two to get in there. Why would you stop in the middle of climbing up or down a latter? Or was it just a bug?
2: What good uses you had for many of the perks are now obsolete. Take the fast healing perk for example. Why would you need it if you can just have the doctor heal you? It's not like it takes all day.
3: The right click is now gone. WTF did they do that for? One of the best features of FO1&2 were the comical and non-entertaining notes you recieve from view objects in the environment.
4: Speaking of notes didn't they say they were going to put the text system on the top left hand corner? What happened? Even Baldur's Gate (a game not worthy of mentioning on a Fallout forum) has a text feed back system.
5: Pausing?!?!?!? HAHA!!! Sure I used it so I can go pee.
6: THEY BETTER HAVE THE COOL DEATH SCENES IN THE FULL VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7: Moving items from one person to another is.......AAHHH. It's not easy that's all I have to say.
8: Speaking to others is so stupid. Why do you have to be butt to butt with someone to speak with them? I don't know about you people but I seem to speak fine with distances over 2 inches. The FO1&2 communication system was much better.
9: No speaking faces, hmmmm, what a shame. I really loved those speaking faces. A true Fallout only quality they have given up to make the game more Balder's-Gate'ish.
10: FINALLY, the demo of Fallout Tactic: Brotherhood of Steel has TARNISHED the Fallout name.

But the developer probably say, "But wait you haven't seen the full version. The demo is only a fragment of it."
I say to them now:
A bum never take a pictures of themselves. Only idiots take pictures of bums.

Well, fast healing might be useful if you don't bring along a doctor. Also, the doctor's first aid kits don't last forever. They use up a little bit of it every time they use them.

I'm more pissed off about the lack of the speech skill. Sure, no dialog tree(which was a mistake in my opinion), but why can't we still influence people by talking to them? What's the point of having a high charisma in this game?

I also agree about the Baldur's Gate thing. I think the farce of the so called "CTB" system with pausing to issue is that they're selling the Fallout 1 and 2 fanbase down the river.

Let's see.. Six people, real time combat with pausing.. Where have I played that before? Oh yeah, Bioware's Baldur's Gate! Didn't like it then, I don't think I'll like it under the guise of being called "Fallout" either.

The thing that really ticks me off is that the TB mode is so damned crippled because of them attempting to move Fallout in to real-time combat.

WEll I think they mad a good choice with the CTB cause when you fight those cockroaches theres like 8 and I dont want to wait for my turn which kills em in one shot.

And they might have removed the text description and other things cause of the size of the demo, I wouldnt want a 200mb download.

BALDUR's GaTE s00x! BALDUR's GaTe 2 SUX! ICEWIND DALE SUCKS EVEN MORE!! (memories of hatred and frustration)..oh!!

.. itsOK..they will fix the turn-based mode they will polish it

I like the exellent job done on the demo ..swheeetttttt...except CTB, i think, is worthless and i try to ignore it by using turn-based combat.

Im just wondering about other people's opinions about the drag-select interface...what IF it got implemented into Fallout3...
what if Fallout 3 gave you contol of more than one characters' inventory/stats/actions like baldur's gate?(via drag-select)

I'd be very disappointed i would get angry
I personally loathe-HATE- the drag-select and the idea of being in control of multiple characters. I would rather have one main character to worry about instead of having 5 guys each with their different inventories and stats..i dont want to control 5 guys. I think it would detract from that feeling of "you alone against the world".

any comments please?

It is not u against the world, u are in the brotherhood which means they are lots of ppl with u. U guys just dun like to manage your team.

My god PettyPilferer, you are a whiny bitch.

Get over it, I hope Microforte dont fix anything. Just so you get pissed and kill your self. Then the world will be happy, and flowers will bloom all over the land. All will be well.

What the hells so bad about BG?
Have you played Planescape? If you have I doubt you have this blind rage to the Baldur's Gate system.

In closing, you suck. And now people its going to cost 5 bottlecaps to see this troll. He's mine! Get your own!

Don't flame again, or you're gone.

Everyone is entitled to say what they liked or found wrong with the demo, just like you did and like he did, but what you did here was uncalled for.

He voiced a displeasure about those games, which I would have to admit that a lot don't like the Infinity engine.

However, there was no need to flame him like that. Aside from your flame, your post has no relevence to this thread whatsoever, and will be removed.

Don't flame again.

i was refering to future Fallout 3 NOT BoS

in BOS, i think, the drag-select interface is logical - but in an RPG, like future fallout 3 (assuming therll be one), the drag-select seems dumb..wheres the fun of having your character controlled for you? - i can agree that in some instances it would be better..but in an RPG, it DOES NOT BELONG

RE: ATTN: Splat:

Well, he flamed BG, so I flame him. I will not let anyone get away with insulting the greatest RPG ever created...

Nice thinking:

Do it again, you're gone.

Aside from that, people have different opinions of games.

As far as Baldur's Gate, I did find the first to have a pathetic, limping, and rather weak story to excuse the intermittent slashfest. The RPG elements were few and far between, and for the most part, nonexistent.

Now, if you want an example of a REAL CRPG, try Planescape: Torment.

RE: Nice thinking:

If Baldur's Gate didn't have that AD&D license to rest on, I doubt anyone would have bought it.

Horrible gameplay, really pathetic engine, poor clickfest combat, etc.

I did like Planescape: Torment though, but never finished it due to my distain for the combat.

RE: Nice thinking:

Sure, he may have his own opinions. But I have my own opinions about him. So I am not aloud to express them, but he's aloud to express his? That's not right...

What part of this escapes you entirely?

One was an viewpoint about a game, the other was a clear personal attack.

If you want to play word games, go ahead, but if you can't understand the difference then may I suggest that it is indeed *you* that might have the learning deficiency?

The difference being, I can back up my statements with facts.

For example, the engine is horrible. Simply put, the Infinity engine features sprites overlayed on to a HUGE bitmap that you scroll around on. That's about as inefficient as it gets, and it's why the game runs poorly on even high end systems. A tile based engine, like Fallout's engine, is much, much more efficient.

The pathing was absolutely horrible. I think most people who have played the game know this. Some of the maps were just too hard for the simple routines implimented.

RE: Nice thinking:

And the Build engine is far more efficient then the Q3 engine. Saying it runs poorly even on high end systems is an over statement though, if I can run it on a PII450 with 128MB with a half dozen other programs running in the back ground without ever experienceing a slow down I shudder to think how it would run on an 1.1ghz with 256MB.

On your second point I must agree though. The path finding is hellacious at times. I can only hope they improve it before release.
