I think he once was a gamer and was passionate about the gaming industry and his own games. But I think he outgrown those things.
I doubt he plays games anymore (or if he does, he doesn't have time for indepth, story rich and time consuming games) and I think his job took it's toll on him and he lost his passion about making games.
For example it was obvious he didn't play Fallout 4 much before he was presenting it on E3. He couldn't even say much about it besides the now iconic "It just works!" and that he "Haven't seen all of the places in the game world yet.".
I don't really blame him, he seems to do his job pretty good. And I don't know him personally so he might be a 5 star person for all I know.
