I say Fallout 3 carries the EXACT SAME engine as Fallout 1 and 2...its the engine, that unique lovable engine that brought me to and addicted me to fallout and fallout 2....changing that would just SUCK. Changing from third person isometric to first person takes all the "special stuff" out of fallout that no other game has...plus there's hardly any first person RPG's...

KEEP THE FALLOUT 2 ENGINE PLEEEEAASSSEEEEEEEE!!!

I'll keep it as cold as possible -> shadowman

Huh? I wasn't yelling, and yes, screw it, I said myself it wouldn't work.

I'm not saying its a 'dumb' idea. I'm saying it because 1-not everything what the 'majority' wants is better for the game, and 2-you are violating the rules of the forum. Didn't you read the rules?

who the hell said anything about 1st person?

>plus there's hardly any first person RPG's...

System shock 2 (brilliant)and Deus ex(excellent storyline and incredibly stylish.)

when I say 3D engine, think of something like a Mad Max movie in the view point of the sims. Although probably better.

>KEEP THE FALLOUT 2 ENGINE PLEEEEAASSSEEEEEEEE!!!

each and every frame that happens in the game must be drawn, pixel by pixel. It takes hours just to make one figure with all the weapons, actions, deaths, ect. If you had a 3D engine, it wouldn't.

RE: hey aptyp

Plus, if they changed the engine the game would take much longer to come out :)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Well I would like to say that I do not think that the next FO needs to be connected to California of the Vault dweller at all. I think it would be extremely cool if we could see the FO world developed as a whole and not just the story of one guy and his descendants.
I am sure that there are other heroes and nemessis in other parts of the country and even the world. I am in no way suggesting to change the play style for those of you that are over sensitive to this prospect(I know you were already going to flame me). Just because you set the plot line in a different place doesn't meen that the fundamentals of the gameplay need to change.

I would like to see an FO maybe set at a time tandem with the first FO but maybe in Texas or Colorado or NY. Vague refferences and easter eggs is all that I would ask for to tie it to the Valut Dweller and his lot. Or maybe shortly before or after. You have really an infinite range of possibilities as far as the time and place.

You have an entire world at your fingertips to mold. Why limit the story to one corner of it.

And I would also like to say that I would like more weapons and armor in FO3. Not to say that I want more advanced stuff.... I DON'T. I just want more variations, like some tribal wearing about 25% of what used to be power armor, or armor made from the shells of a rad scorpion, or spears that have pieces of metal as their head(taken from the endless suply of twisted junk everywhere) instead of just flint. Home made bows and arrows and cross bows(I have actually gone throught this all before in another post), so anyways you get the picture.

And I think a new 3D engine would be cool if it was done right.
It would mean a lot more variety and not necessairly change the feel of the game. ( IF it was done right)

And all refferences to hairy death claws(LIZARDS WITH HAIR????!!) and predator like armor need to be erased.

Oh and one more thing..... even the enclave armor had a small bit of retro in it's design with the giant valve on the back where you apparently entered into the suit, and the fact that it was NOT FORM FITTING but rather bulky to say the least.

sectional combat.

What do people think of my sectional combat idea?
Simply put, some people are in combat, and the rest arn't.
Unless they want to be (Like if your fighting with gangers and some cops come along. Then the police will join in. hopefully)

Also I was thinking about the story. What if you went on some crusade to washington, for some reason AND...um...when you got there it was populated with talking rad-scorpions.
or prehaps not.

Oh yeah, also different responces for different crimes, Like cops would kill you if you killed someone, but they'd just pummel you a few times if you tried to steal something.

RE: Yeah

I think that civilization follows a "two steps forwards, one step back" pattern. Progress is made, then there is a war/disease/famine/natural disaster/etc... which sets things back somewhat. Things would not progress too quickly for us '50's-retro-wasteland people if the Fallout design team was creative enough.

Also, why don't a lot people in this thread understand that a new 3D ENGINE for Fallout means just that. It could have the same perspective as FO1/2 but be in 3D, which allows for much more variety and ease of modding. And it looks better too.

That's an over verbose and explanitory suggestion, reb.

How so?(I think your wish is anwered in Fallout Tactics anyway.)

well, maybe people will notice this old thread.

So, come on, I want ot know what the Mods want, Xotor, Rosh and...um... the rest.
