What exactly is included in the "purist" installation of Fixt?

First time out of the vault
I haven't been able to find a detailed list of the patches/mods present in the purist, half-purist and full installation modes of Fallout Fixt. Does "purist" just contain bug fixes, text error fixes, children and hi-res, or are there also changes to actual game balance and features?

I don't think You'll find balance fixes to purist installaton. Especially if you download purist only installer. it should be Children Hi-res *maybe* sfall with some basic fixes set like idle processor perhaps but I'm not so sure mouswheel implementation and Quality of life features enabled plus maybe fallout shaders if using dx9.0 @32bit colour depth. Perhaps You can set more sound buffers (if Your soundcard supports it) or set GPU rendering if your GPU supports it. Basically sfall should be there but not sure wich options are set.

Your best bet is to launch the installer and give it a go the game is not that long if you just want to test it.

I take the opportunity to adress another question.

If you download the Fixes only, and choose the smallest version (Fixes only\purist), and if you download the Full Custom, and choose the smallest version (Fixes Only\purist as well), you end up with two installation of two different size. What makes one bigger than another ? They are both supposed to be the same Fixes Only\purist version.

We are scratching our hair on that in the french community.

maybe the purist from the full installer stores extra data in case you want to switch from purist to full?

It means that we are not certain about if we should make a separate entry for each of the two upload or only make one entry for the big one, and mention that there are several possible installation from the big one.

We are listing the patches possibilities in french for those who can't read english and we had an internal discussion recently and we wondered if we should mention the smaller download at all, considering both the small one and the big one have the same first two options. But the thing is, the first option of installation from both source, ultimately have a different size.

So i was wondering @Sduibek , what could be the differences between the purist version of the smaller upload and the purist version of the bigger upload ?

@o0lemonlime0o @gustarballs1983 @naossano Hi, everyone! I've gotten plenty of requests for a document or point of reference which breaks down what exactly is in which install, so rest assured that is planned for the next release :)

As a bit of background: I knew many would be playing Fallout for the first time, having started at Fallout 2/3/NV/4/etc, so I wanted to keep the installer as spoiler-free as possible for anyone who doesn't want spoilers.

The only way to do this is to hide the individual options/selections, otherwise choosing game customizations in the installer spoils a wide array of aspects of the game, the storyline, etc.

Hence the "Purist" and "Standard" and "Full" etc were born. This way people could estimate what level of non-purism they found acceptable, and get the appropriate fixes/changes/additions (or not) accordingly - no spoilers needed! Nice.

TL;DR: There's nowhere the breakdown of which install includes what exact features is documented yet, but it's planned. The underlying issue boils down to competing priorities at play:
  • Some of us want to know every last detail of precisely what is changed,
  • Some of us don't want any spoilers whatsoever (which the changelog would contain many),
  • Some of us want a purist experience for whatever reason.
If you guys have any advice on how to best balance those 3 I'm all ears!

@naossano Not sure about the size difference question, that's interesting. I'll take a look but I would wager @dudejo001 's theory is probably correct.
