What if Harold was in New Vegas?

Ugly Kid

Still Mildly Glowing
Sorry for doing two posts in a row, but I don't think I've seen this thread before.

If Harold was in New Vegas, where would he be? What would he be doing? Who does he want to take Hoover Dam and the Mojave? Is he still the mayor of Gecko?

Of course, for this to happen, Harold would not have been present in Fallout 3, and hopefully he didn't turn into a tree. And I don't really care if this has consequences for the Capital Wasteland.

Would we assume Van Buren to be cannon, or at least, semi-cannon? If so, then that would mean Harold helped cure a plague around 30 years before the game. So unless people somehow never found out, Harold would be a celebrity.

I think Harold would be helping the Followers of the Apocalypse, probably at the old mormon fort. I think he'd do that, because Harold would want to help people out. He'd probably think independent would be the best thing for Vegas because that's what the followers believe. He might go around Freeside planting trees with the fruits growing from his head. He might not be the mayor of Gecko anymore, maybe when he got back after Van Buren, he saw Lenny doing a damn fine job and figured he can handle things from now on.

Other ideas for places he could be: Jacobstown, Vault 22, Zion, 188 Trading Post, Mojave Outpost,

I can't really think of much else, I like hearing about headcannons and what ifs so please reply with what you think.

The concept of Harold as a celebrity is actually quite a funny one - this old hobo's two centuries of being a down-and-out nobody are finally over, and he's just living it up in some presidential suite on the Strip.

Could have it as simple as a tree that bears fruit at one of the various towns, when asked about it they'd describe a funny old mutant with a plant growing out it's head, and the seeds took root. They never saw him again.

Alternatively he could be a counter-cure for the Vault 22 fungal infection. But I feel that'd make Vault 22 less interesting if it could become pure benign

I like the places you suggest Ugly Kid on where Harold could be currently living in FNV. I don't know which one of them I would consider the definite choice.
Zion might be a good place, him having set up camp in the Fishing Lodge.

Another option I could think of is perhaps the REPCONN factory, helping out the Bright Brotherhood. Or perhaps Bitter Springs.

That would be hilarious. Harold wearing a nice suit, smoking some nice cigars, drinking good whiskey alongside high-rollers, perhaps alongside a few old ghouls who used that borderline immortality to build up wealth - hey, if you have forever, might as well use that time to get rich.

(maybe alongside Typhoon? The gag of the Bottlecap Fortune continues with Typhoon revealing that the Chosen One threw that crap back, and when the Hub Merchants brought it back, he went back to his stash first thing and cashed it for mucho lucro)

Maybe this could give us a insight into the original cavaneer Harold?

Perhaps Mr. House is getting info about the Wasteland from him? Harold IS well-travelled, and has been around like forever. I like the idea of those two ancients just having random fireside chats and playing cards - House is being represented by a Securitron, of course.

If Harold were in NV he'd be a part of the Wang Dang Atomic Tango quest. You could recruit him to help build an agriculture settlement by uh....pollinating the soil back into being livable again with mutated vegetation.
Seems like that would piss Vulpes off. Might make for a good Alec style parody.
