What is that goo that is found all over the Fallout 1 and 2

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Its generally described as a strange noxious goo and I think even as strange biologic goo.

Now I have heard some things, mostly conspiracy theor type stuff involving chemtrails and the like and about strange biologic slime/goo that seen in some western states here in the US.

But what is it in Fallout 1 and 2 (if it was seen in FO1 cant remember)? Could it possibly be some Enclave experiment that is just continued on from the old US goverments weird experiments? Could it be extraterrestrial? Or maybe just a gross new inhabitance if the Fallout world?

Anyone know? Its gross I know that. Especially depending on how you find it. Gross.
 
I always thought of it as radioactive waste, given the nuke sign on the barrels with the stuff.
 
Wait, are we talking the green stuff around the gun runners and in the gecko caves or the brown stuff down at the master's vault and the redding toilet?
 
Then I have no idea what the hell Kahgan is talking about.
 
He's talking about the green radioactive goo in the gecko cave thing, for instance, the stuff that makes you grow an extra toe, or the stuff surrounding the gunrunners.

The other brownish goo, for instance the stuff that covers the walls at the Master's lair, those are intestines and flesh and organs and whatever. No?
At the abattoir, I'd say it's just offal. It's organic waste in any case, at the toilet it's evidentally excrements.
 
In Fo1 under the cathedral it was the Master, in Fo2 it was mostly recycled props.

Actually I meant the brow looking gross stuff. The green stuff I knew was some type of Radioactive waste.
