What kind of mods would interest you?

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Thought i'd start a thread to see if i could start a discussion on just what kind of mods people would like to see. Of course, people will make the mods they want to make, but personally i'm interested in what ideas/desires people have, from small to the not-so-small.

Something i,ve been thinking about is incorporating Josh Sawyers crafting ideas more conclusively. Van Buren was going to have a much more comprehensive crafting system, including the ability for characters to make their own weapons, armours etc using raw materials and completing leftover pre and post-war projects.

I agree about an improved crafting system. We need custom armor that can only be obtained via crafting. Also, the ability to break down armor and combine different armors and items to get new ones.

Something that would remove the slow camera from Vats deaths AND the slow mo that they added when you kill things from far away.

Seriously, I already hated the slowmo from vats, why did they added it to normal kills?

Also, so far I haven't found a mod that did this =/

That's because you can turn that off in the regular settings menu.

You mean the camera mode?

I think I put it on None (there was also Cinematic and Third-Person), but I can't recall if it ever happened again.

But the Vats Slowmo can only the taken off with a mod right?

Oh good, at least I'm gonna be 50% less annoyed.

I thought of one other type of mod too, since Oblivion had horses, maybe there's a possibility that we could implement vehicles (say, bikes outside Goodsprings saloon), or even cars?

Even thought I haven't seen a single car that isn't destroyed in the entire game.

Hell, I would love to have a chopper on the game, sure it would look incredibly awkward, but at least it would be a faster way of traveling.

They should make mods for Armor and Weapon Customization that allow you to put symbols and or paint/dye the armor. I play on the console version so it doesn't really matter I wont get such a mod and you can already do that VIA the GECK for PC version. It would also be cool to make a mod for more weapon mods not over powering ones but like for the Laser Rifle the 30% increased damage lowers the amount of DT it can break through because it makes it a "multishot rifle" that does something like 6x4 DAM Energy weapons already have a hard time of cutting through DT plus things have Energy Resistance. Basically new energy weapons need to come out that do good DAM and dont cost a rediculus amount of ammo to shoot once. I mean certain weapons like the Tesla Beaton Prototype should still remain high other wise it would be WAY too good.

Something to make my goddamn suicidal companions stay the fuck next to me when I'm exploring. I tell Arcade: "Arcade, old chap, why don't you wait until I engage enemies to go running after them". "Sure, no problem friend" he assures me. Then, 10 seconds later, I'm chasing Arcade's ass through Vault 273.15 to make sure he doesn't fuck something up and in the process, totally ruining my method of methodically plodding through the place.

And yea, I know about the "wait here" command. I don't want them to wait, I want them to do what the fuck the combat option I selected STATED, which is don't attack until I attack.

Oh, and ED-E needs that option.

Here is something I thought about recently...
Maintaining/repairing weapons and armor
Maintaining shouldn't take another weapon. It's just silly. Maybe you can use scrap metal/electronics instead. Maybe you can maintain armor with hides, leather belts and scrap depending on the armor. And how about having your weapons automatically maintained when you wait or rest. Would that work? Is it too crazy?
Repairing should still "consume" weapons, don't get me wrong.

I have a mod that repairs most any regular gun with wonderglue and/or duct-tape.

Energy weapons can be repaired with electronics, like cameras, sensor modules ect.

Quite a few mods out there that do similar.

I don't know if this is possible but in New Vegas I would like to more soldiers from the Legion to have guns instead of melee weapons, I know they are supposed to be "roman like army" but for me a mostly melee army in reality is just not feasible.

Yeah, it's a bit ridiculous, however they're pretty powerful for a bunch of psychos with machetes.

Aside from more likeness to FO 1 and 2.... more quest/mission mods and definitely an enlarged map if possible, with more locations and story.
No DLCs... I'm not into DLCs myself, knowing how DLCs for FO3 were... I don't have any hopes for something good coming from Beth, they always disappoint. Perhaps Obsidian can change that tho.

I would really like to see some expansion on the crafting system.

There's only a few weapons that can be crafted and they don't really fall into any really useable niche since you know...

By the time you get enough dog tags for the Dog Tag Fist, you've probably found 2 or 3 bladed gauntlets and Powder Charges and Time Bombs are useless when you find Frag Mines everywhere.

Long rant made short...

Essentially, a set of weapons for each category that could be made at a workbench, nothing stupid like in Fallout 3 (CHOO CHOO RIFLE MAKE FUNNY SOUND) but you know, cool stuff.

Possible ideas.

Unarmed: Boxing Gloves + Lead = Sappers, Fission Battery + Brass Knuckles = Electro-Knuckles

Melee: Baseball Bat + Nails = Spiked Bat, Sledgehammer + Fission Battery = Mjolnir

You know, stuff like that.

As Lexx showed me, editing / adding crafting recipes is no work at all. Just some clicking in GEEK.

I never touched that editor and it took me 10 minutes to create two armor crafting recipes for reinforcing the bright brotherhood robes.

Just edit an existing one (give it a new id & name), after hitting ok it will be saved as a new object. Play around with the ingredients and skill requirements, then save the changes to a new esp. Voila, your tiny crafting mod is ready for take off. :)

i imagine someone else has already asked about this, but is there already or would there be a mod for Fallout three that makes it play with the same rules as New Vegas?

I just finished playing New Vegas and wanted to try Fallout three, but am already having much less fun with it. Stealth kills immediately make everyone hostile even if done in a room with closed doors in Megaton. Also I liked the "survival" skill and only one guns skill.

ANyone know the answer to this? Thanks.
