What was the Funniest Argument You've had with a Bethesda Apologist?

Only thing that could probably do that would be hardtack as long as it doesn't get wet or contaminated but I highly doubt it would last a nuclear explosion. 150 year old hardtack was found and was still good without being packaged, which was then put into a museum. When it comes to anything else in terms of food even canned food that's not possible unless there's another type of food that could last that long without going bad.
Yeah some stuff will last but 99.999999% of the food that be around when the bombs dropped wouldn't be around by 2100. Hell canned food at my grandpa's house didn't even last 20 years in a sort of controlled environment. But yeah Beth magic...Skyrim invaded and cast a spell that makes food never age.

Reminds me of all the food which is still edible inside all of those zombie tombs in Skyrim.

You see, nuclear winter has actually preserved all the food.

Have a few more:

1.

Idiot number 1: Taken straight from the site, in case the site is blocked for anyone.

Now, I know there will be some mixed feeling on the increase in price for the Season Pass, but honestly, since they're going to be making more for the game than they originally intended, I can understand it completely. Some may disagree and that's fine, it'll still remain the original price until next month, so there's plenty of time to buy it between then and now.

Aside from that, thoughts? I'm hyped all over again personally.

Me:
Are you ******* kidding me? They dare to sell things that are nothing more but a simple mods a as a DLC?

Misterious mechanist, rip off, don't bother, better to wait for someone to make a mod and have it for free or do it yourself. Once a creation kit comes out creating something simple like this will be a matter of days and they dare to sell it for a price like this? So why would you waste your money on them.

Wasteland Worksop, basically arena mod or thorn from New Vegas, that was included in the base game and they charge money for that. Once again wait for the moods.

And last but not least Far Harbor aka Point Lookout 2.0; They only one worth any attention. Still wait till more info come about this dlc so you don't waste money on it.

Bethesda is going the way of EA, just **** those guys

Idiot number 2:
No they aren't... yet. If they start doing micro-transactions then it is time to abandon ship.

Me:
Explain to me how are they not going towards way EA does games nowadays?

Because I can't really see it?

Two of those mods could be included in a free update because all they introduce are some small things, yet they cost 15 usd total. That is quite a lot for 2 small DLCs;

Far Harbor might be okay but it still quite expensive 25 usd, that is a lot. Also Honestly the way I see it, the best strategy is to wait for the GOTY editon otherwise you will only waste your time and money.

Idiot number 1:
No microtransactions.

No yearly releases.

No overpriced Season Passes.

No broken promises. And before you say that Fallout 4 was disappointing, not only is that a matter for debate, but if you had outlandish hopes and dreams for Fallout 4, that's your own fault. I mean, not only have I had several playthroughs of the game now and enjoyed it far more than I ever enjoyed 3 or NV but I've seen you hating on this game in about every thread there's been about it. You have an opinion, that's fine, but don't act like your opinion is fact.

Me:
Oh yeah, you are right. Except they will probably go way of EA at one point if Fallout 4 is any indication.

No Microtransactions agreed, although those 2 small dlc are kind of like this.

No yearly releases, agreed. Instead we get a game every 4 years that took so much time to develop yet it is still worse than NV in terms of content.

No broken Promises, I give you that. They never promised us a deep compeling RPG, so they didn't brake any promises.

Idiot number 1:
How about we play the game of wait and see instead of the game of prophet and see how things go? You can't know what they're going to do, and neither do I. Difference is I don't pretend like I do.

And as far as a deep, compelling RPG, the only Fallouts I count as deep and compelling RPGs are the originals. 3, NV, and 4 are nowhere near as intuitive, or deep as they were. I know a lot of Obsidian fanboys like to pretend that it was, but it really wasn't. Bethesda in my opinion is still the best game company out there, and Fallout 4 is perhaps my favorite of the rebooted Fallout series so far.

On an unrelated note, I'd just like to say that I respect your opinion. I don't agree with it, but I respect it all the same, and hope that we can continue friendly debates if it ever comes down to one.

Me:
HEck NO, I DON'T APOLOGIZE. IT is my opinion. Fallout 4 sucks, deal with it.

Idiot number 1:
Well, DLC is optional, no one has to buy anything. I feel they weren't aware just how popular settlements were going to be, and this was something they whipped up real quick to give us more options. Whether we like it or not, that takes time and money to do, and they have to make it back. They are a company after all, not a charity.

And the voiced protagonist, personally I like it. I don't want one for the next Elder Scrolls, but for Fallout, at least in this case, I think they did well with it for a first attempt. Whether or not it becomes the norm has yet to be seen. If nothing else, this batch of DLC shows they listen to complaints.

Far Harbor is going to be the biggest DLC they've ever created, so that alone gives me high hopes. But for now, it's a game of wait and see.

Dialogue number 2:
Far Harbour Weapons discussion.

Idiot number 1:
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES! (Link because the people at imgur are fucking jackass's who won't let us use images from their site for no reason at all.)

Me:
Well, that looks so lazy. Those "weapons" are so uninspired. Meat hooks, pole hooks, another gun that looks like a modified rifle from vanilla, Harpoon gun (we bioshock 2 now, there was speargun), the striker and the armour.

Really? A weapon that shoots bowling bowls? How is that supposed to be effective? It is basically like a junk jet, but less useful. The ammo weights a ton and the damage is bad.

The only good thing is lever action rifle. I can play as a cowboy, dealing justice to commonwealth scum (aka everyone who lives in it).

Idiot number 2:
One a side note, just give it up with Ediros. He made up his mind on how he felt about Fallout 4 when it was first announced, he'll never stop riding the hate train until Fallout 5 is announced, and even then he'll just start up the hate train for that game. In his mind Obsidian is the only company that can create anything with Fallout in the title that isn't immediately terrible at its inception.

Me:
Hahaha, you are an idiot and a liar you know that?

I was hyped beyond belief about this game and couldn't wait to play it. Then I finally played it and after first 30 hours the hype wore off.

It was then when I finally started to notice things I didn't like. The pile of issues grew and grew until it finally snaped when I went to Kellog Cornflakes house and tried to skip the quest with valentine. Guess what, I couldn't so I have to go save valentine and do the whole quest pandering with Dogmeat before I can finally move on. It was then when I fully understood how terrible this game is.

So yeah , basically you are yet another bethedrone that praises Bethesda. I really hope that Bethesda goes bankrupt at this point and sells Fallout to obsidian, who actually know what Fallout is about.

Dialogue number 3:

Idiot number 1:
Soon, the mods will rise. Soon, Fallout 4 will be the greatest game for the next decade. Soon, consoles will get mods. Soon.

Me:
HAHAHHA, I think you are delusional, if you think that it is going to change much. There is a reason consoles have never had a variety of mods. First of all, let's take New Vegas and one of the most popular mods: PROJECT NEVADA. IT requires script extending, which is not available in the base game or EVE.

I highly doubt that outside of some simpler mods like patches, weapons, armor and such will be available. Also the creation kit is currently available only through bethesda.net. To me it seems they want to lock up mods behind their site and take money from them, just like they tried with paid mods in skyrim.

Say whatever you want, it is not going to change the fact that Fallout 4 is not a good Fallout game.

Idiot number 2:
First of all, it wasn't Bethesda that wanted to do paid mods, it was Valve. Second, while Fallout 4 is not a decent Fallout game, it is still a good game, despite being on an absolutely shitty engine. I have faith people will find ways to make the mods work on consoles.

Dialogue number 4:

Me:
Holy sheet, that looks like just like Point Lookout but worse.

A big frog, that hides underwater.

Geckos they ripped out of new Vegas.

Giant Mutated Mantises?

Nick Valentine as a synth leader?

The lore is screaming as it is being gutted just by the trailer alone.

When I watched this trailer I saw a conflict between local people, synths and children of atom, which whill probably be just like the factions in Fallout 4.

Also no wonder this is their "biggest" DLC. I can bet that 65% of the map will be pure water, without anything exciting.

On the plus side, there are actually other water enemies, outside of mirelurks.

PS: That part with "BRING MY DAUGHTER HOME" made me cringe like crazy. It is the same like the one in Fallout 3 and that tells a lot about quality.

Idiot number 1:
Geckos they ripped out of new Vegas.

Does that mean they ripped almost every enemy from new Vegas and fallout three?

Giant Mutated Mantises?

They were in new Vegas. are you so stupid you can't even remember a common enemy from the game you worship?

Nick Valentine as a synth leader?

There is no fucking way that is nick Valentine. If you were to just look at them side by side you could tell many differences.

Dialogue number 6:

Me:
Before you attack me for making this thread I want to say, if you disagree write it but don't insult others based on their opinion.

With that said, Fallout is dead to me. I can not for the life of me see any future for this franchise whatsoever as long as it says in the hands of bethesda. They have done nothing more but butcher the franchise.

Fallout 3 was bad enough with its' dialogue, writing, lore breaking facts etc. Still it was my first Fallout game so I didn't find it bad at the time. Then Fallout 4 came and it managed to completly destroy everything what made Fallout Fallout.

In any event, bethesda: butchered the lore, turned the franchise into pointless minecraft clone without any rpg or choice and consequence or memorable characters or any logic.

If you disagree, whatever. I am done with bethesda and will treat their games as spinoffs that should not exist.

My question is what is your opinion on it?

Idiot number 1:
Don't bury the franchise just yet. I'm hoping Bethesda would be smart to give Obsidian Studios another go at Fallout. I just wonder how they'll tackle the problem with the dialouge wheel and the skill system. Those two are the main problems that kept fallout 4 from being a true RPG.

I'd take a non-voiced protagonist with more dialouge choices over a voice one anytime.

I hope they get permission from Bethesda to change it up a bit.

If you compare the perks of fallout 3 and New vegas, you notice that the fallout 3 perks have a more focus on stats rather than being a unique perk like fallout New vegas did.

Me:
I think you don't get it. Bethesda doesn't want to let Obsidian do it again because they would make a better game than them, again.

Not to mention all the restrictions:

-shitty engine check

-Following Bethesda shitty lore and story check

-Perkchart, cutscenes are hardcoded

-You can not mod this game for shit

If I were Obsidian I wouldn't want to work with guys who refused a bigger share of profits because of one measly point at metacritic. One that come from bethesda rushing the game.

In short Obsidian should create their own RPG like New Vegas instead on relying on the bethesda.

Idiot number 2:
I'll agree on the fact that Fallout New Vegas is the best game of the bunch, but you can't deny how amazing the combat is in four, and the settlements were fun to make as well. But personally, I've always preferred Elder Scrolls.

Me:
Please I deny both both of these points.

All the guns feel the same, there are no unique weapons ( legendaries do not count). There is little variety and laser rifle should not have a recoil.

Settlements are nothing more but a time waster. Nothing you do matters, all settlers are the same, limit on building, you can build a fancy stuff, but then why not play minecraft instead?

Idiot number 3:
I don't think it's dead. Worse than it could be, yes, but still a great game.

While i'm not too excited with the crafting and how it's done, bethesda did try. Mods do help in that regard. But i hope it will be better next time. Hopefully there will be a next time.

How the power armor works now is much better since previously there was nothing that actually powered the big mobile infantry armor.

Nothing else comes to mind other than the weapon customization is decent.

Miss the old skill system a little though...

Me:
If you think it is a great game I don't think you have played one. I am sorry, but this is something I disagree with on many levels.

1.Mods make no sense, how come you can just switch a caliber without changing the barrel. That and mods are just better versions of the previous ones. Powerful to hardened to something. Also ammo matters the most for damage not a stupid receiver.

2.Power Armour no. Fusion cores suck and are everywhere, what happened to the pack of t-51b? Why power armour gets damaged by EVERYTHING? How the hell can you mix and match completly different models. There is a difference for a reason. Power armour frames brake the lore and straight out stupid.

And Enclave had Nuclear reactors in 2 so of course. Who needs consistency? It is less important than shooting stuff...

Idiot number 3:
The problem with Fallout 1 and 2 is that they have aged terribly. At the time, they were good games. However, as the years pass and technology improves, it has become near impossible to go back and replay them. I tried to play Fallout 1 for five minutes before giving up due to frustrating UI design. For all their faults, Fallout 3 and 4 are still decent games in their own right.

Idiot number 2:
I think you're being extremely over dramatic.

You basically sound like you're saying, "Oh, Fallout is different from how it used to be; and that means that it's bad and will never be good again!"

Change is a good thing. If all of Bethesda's Fallout games were the same as the first ones, you'd be complaining about how stagnant the series had become; and how Bethesda had no fresh ideas.

Here i posted a part of discussion i posted previously.

Dialogue 7: fallout frost

Me:
Pfff, I thought you already have got survival mode by bethesda. Shouldn't you be playing that instead?

And about the mod, Fallout Dust was good, but it had problems. However, Fallout 4 version of this mod? No thank you.

Why would I want to play Farcryout 4 just for the survival mode when there are better games with better survival element?

I already feel sorry for the mod author once console kiddies get to him and thieves from PC. Hahaha, I hope it fails.

Idiot number 1:
Ediros, don't be a dick- I don't own modded copies of any of the Fallout games anymore (W10 broke em, and Arma 3 took over) , but it takes some pretty impressive effort to make a mod and release it, particularly at this kind of scale/conversion.

Just because you personally do not like F4's survival mode doesn't mean that the mod should fail.

Bethesda opening up modding to consoles is a great step forward for console games.

Idiot number 2:
Oh my God, WE FUCKING GET IT ALREADY. Over a million fucking times, you don't like Fallout 4. But why are you still acknowledging Fallout 4 threads where you can just fucking ignore them? In addition, didn't you say Fallout is dead? Well, no one's stopping you leaving.

Dialogue 8: fallout fandom the worst?

Me:
At the current moment there are worse fandoms. However this fandom reached a new low with all the people that think farcryout 4 is a good game in general.

You can see how many new bethesda fans are there, who aren't Fallout fans. To put it simply "true" Fallout fans left a while ago as they went back to 1, 2 and NV.

Idiot number 1:
And this is what I've been talking about. Look, I play Bethesda and original Fallout games because I'm a gamer and just want to have fun rather be an asshole. But seriously, the conflict between people like you and the Bethesda fans you hate is now getting to the point where it's cringy. Like, wow you are just like bronies and furries arguing with each other for no reason or PC lovers and Apple lovers arguing about which computer is better (hey, you can watch porn on those, there's no competition).

But let me point at the problems on the two sides.

Fallout fans:

- Parading tastes in "good" Fallout games. Arrogant

- Try to be haughty dicks in a Fallout 4 thread where you can just fucking ignore it.

- Jumping the shark by saying Fallout is dead. Did you also know that bronies did the same thing when Twilight became an Alicorn and said MLP is dead and Star Wars fans reacted to Disney saying the Expanded Universe is no longer canon (I was bummed out when I heard that, but it didn't bother me) and They said Star Wars is dead. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the thin-skinned pieces of shit.

- Being a buzz-kill when people want to have fun.

- Calling themselves true Fallout fans and calling modern Fallout fans as "Not Fallout fans". Sorry for breaking Godwin's law, but did the Germans did that when dealing with Eastern Europeans and Jews by calling themselves as human and calling the Jews and Eastern Europeans Subhuman? Irony

- Picking on a game company for making stupid choices with a game rather than swallowing their pride and appreciate what we have or maybe swallow their pride, arrogance, and lose the jobs they have right now and learn video game design so we can have a better Fallout game.

- Criticizing mistakes in Fallout 4 without realizing it's trial and error and the people made Fallout 4 are human. We're all human, we make mistakes and we learn from them, but that doesn't give the "True Fallout fans" to be self righteous dip-shits about making mistakes in a franchise that you people drool over. But if they still want be a preachy special snowflake, then go ahead and see someone who does give a shit.

Modern Fallout fans

- Memes. Well that's the Internet.

- Wanting more in a game rather appreciating the game itself. Other words acting like bunch of spoiled rich children

- Calling modern Fallout games the best without playing the original ones.

Let's face it both of them are the two sides of the shit coin that's really killing Fallout. One is a stuck up arrogant Fallout fan and the other is a twelve year old. But in all honesty grow the fuck up.

Me:
Okay, so I am supposed to sit and do nothing? If we don't vote with our wallets or express our opinions how are things going to improve?

I simply wanted a new Fallout game similar to NV but with with the way triple a industry is going it is getting really hard to find a good game.

They had 7 YEARS to make a good game. NV was well received and they went and done the complete opposite. Also companies do make mistakes but if they learn from their mistakes it is a good thing.

Bethesda has been dumbing down games since Morrowind and now I don't expect them to suddenly do a face heel turn.

To me they are no longer worth my time. Simple as that. I just can't bother to care about this or one of the others franchises tgat I used to enjoy. They are not what I like them for. If you do like Fallout 4, be my guest. However at least judge the game fairly.

That is all, have fun!

Wow, my hat is off to you. I'm surprised you're still sane after all that.

I know a lot of Obsidian fanboys like to pretend that it was, but it really wasn't. Bethesda in my opinion is still the best game company out there, and Fallout 4 is perhaps my favorite of the rebooted Fallout series so far.

The best game company...yeah ok. A company that invests more time and money in getting an NPC companion to say "Mr Fucker" and "Mr Assface" (tee hee so funny!) over building a convincing world, has no regard for what the series is about, gutted the game of its core components and took 7 years to make a Fallout game that ultimately ended up being an absolute pile of crap.

Oh and Pete Hines.

Truly they are the best game company.

I am just as sane as @MercenarySnake with his conspiracy theories.

Edit: I did not mean it as an insult. I merely wanted to say that your theories make sense and that agree with you. Unfortunately it came out wrong.

You have got no idea how retarded those guys are. Hell, they kicked me out because of "shitposting".

I deserve at least a like for all that.

Though if I am perfectly honest, @RangerBoo is a bigger hero for showing us the great fiction by Dragonborn.

You guys have no clue how happy I am to be able to speak with such good and intelligent people.

Ps: This is another reason why I came here.

I fit neither of those categories. What am I?

Also I promise when I get back to England I have 5 beautiful comments from a Sugarbombed "why do people hate Fallout 4 thread" that I screenshotted.

You are a league of your own Sarcastic Good Guy.

Also looking forward to it.

Good and intelligent...err sure, sure I fit that description, yes. No doubt about that

Yay I look forward to killing off even more brain cells!

What did I do wrong?

Nothing.

I told you that you are one of the sanest guys I have met in one of the threads.

You are a good guy, at least to me.

Oh okay, I seen conspiracy theories with my name in the same sentence and everytime I've heard conspiracy theory in a sentence its always been in a bad way. Thanks for the compliment.

Mmm, nothing like popping my NMA cherry with this doozy...

Anyways, a particular user I've observed on the official Bethesda forums takes great strides in tripping over himself in order to win arguments. If you mention Obsidian (or any other pre-Skyrim title from Bethesda that wasn't complete shit), he'll bust out a word document and copy/paste a giant list of every single personal grievance. General pathetic shit like that.

My personal favorite was an argument over whether Vault 95's inclusion of Jet was a lore mistake, or if it meant that Jet was now a pre-war invention - essentially a bad retcon.

He kept bringing up the Bishop's from Fallout 2 and how Mrs. Bishop kept yammering on about using Jet back in her youth, even though Jet was a fairly recent creation. I mentioned that it was a mistake that Avellone himself cleared up in the FO bible. The apologist's response was something along the lines of "because the FO bible is non-canon, the clarification regarding Mrs. Bishop is not credible."

Basically, he was saying that Mrs. Bishop was proof that Jet existed (in it's current form) pre-war, therefore Vault 95 wasn't a retcon, even though there's an entire backstory of how Myron helped the Mordino's gain power by creating Jet post-war. The drug-addled NPC was I guess a more credible source according to this apologist.

The best part was when he went on to justify vaults being so easily built by the player-character because they were built as modular sections that were easily pieced together according to the Fallout Bible.

Ugh.

according to the Fallout Bible.
Wait, so this guy was able to remember a part of the Fallout Bible stating that Vaults were built in modular sections, but he wasn't able to remember a part where Chris Avellone explicitly said that Mrs. Bishop's remark on jet was accidental?

Damn, that guy's got a selective memory.

Nah, he understood that part. He just denied it as being credible because it hurt his argument. He has no issue referencing the bible when it supports his argument, though.

Just fanboy things.
