What's the name of "this" game?

I'm looking for the title of a game of which I played the demo many years ago. All I know is this:
- gameplay/engine/perspective was pretty much similar to the Tomb Raider games
- your character was some sort of dark angel with clipped wings; he could still use his wings but only for short distances/gliding
- if you got stuck in the real world (for instance, because your way was blocked or you couldn't open a certain door), you could toggle a different, dreamlike realm and proceed there; that dreamlike world was contorted and - IIRC - had a blue/green colour scheme

I'm pretty sure it wasn't some obscure title, and I seem to remember seeing budget versions of the game in shops years later.

Anyone? For some strange reason I have been thinking about this game for days now, but I can't find anything about it because I simply forgot how it was called. I think the demons in my head are ordering me to find it and buy it and waste my time with it.

EDIT: I think your character was also able to suck out the life from enemies, but I'm not sure about that anymore. And I recall spirals. Maybe your stamina was depicted as a coloured spiral or something. I'm not sure.

That's it! Soul Reaver. Looking at those screenshots, I must say my memory is in a better condition than I thought. I even got that little spiral thing right. I should have no problem finding a copy now. I just hope I don't get seasick playing it.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. :salute:

I loved that fucking game. The music was my favorite part I think.

Soul Reaver is probably the best in the series. Soul Reaver 2 is more like an episode than an actual game.

I attempted the original Blood Omen, but I got bored with the frustrating gameplay that comes later on in it, so I gave up and resold it.

Blood Omen 2 is a pretty meaty game. It just doesn't contribute any to the storyline unless you want some backstory of what Kain did after the events of Blood Omen. I very much enjoyed gaining more and more powers as you progress through the game, which felt reminiscent of the original Soul Reaver, despite my lack of interest in the storyline.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance is an action game. If Soul Reaver 2 was enough for you then you'll like it. Defiance has a nice conclusion at the end, which is good for the series. It's pretty much like Soul Reaver 2, except multiply the length by 4 to 6 times. Worth at least renting though if you want to see the conclusion to Kain and Raziel's storyline.

None of them comes anywhere close to the original Soul Reaver though. :P

I played the same demo years ago and thought it was really cool. Not sure why I never tried getting the full game. I seem to remember some control problems... (the game, not me)

The demo was really buggy and unpolished in comparison to the full game. It doesn't/didn't do it justice.

I believe the demo was made months before the game was released.

I remember playing LoK: Defiance for PS2... such a good game. The ambient, the voice acting, the gameplay (especially with Kain, being able to impale enemy soldiers or suck their blood).
Definitely reccomended, but be careful with PC versions because of the keyboard controls.

Wow. Thanks for this, very powerful.

It makes you think how much other footage is out there.
