Avellone's influence on New Vegas was minimal outside of the DLC. Obsidian still has talented people.

Wasn't Gonzales a lead writer on FNV?
He is in Guerilla now, so that's a big loss for them.
And without any exaggetattion, PoE is a far weaker title in narrative terms compared to FNV. Haven't played Tyranny, but didn't hear much good about it.

I'm very interested in this. Game has a name yet or not?

I should have clarified that the whole FNV inspired thing is just rumors. Not unlikely tho, given FNV is their biggest success. Not sure where I heard it, but Youtube is a likely suspect. Ironmask might be right on that one.

Anyway, The Outer Worlds is the name. Sounds very SF, but I wouldn't place my bet on it being "pure" SF or even SF in any traditional, mainstrram sense. It's Cain and Boyarsky, shit must get weird at some point.

If you get the game on steam then download the unofficial patch on moddb. It is what the gog version uses.
I've done that before; but for me it is the principle. They sold me (access to) a product that installed, but would not run. When I asked for technical aid, Steam Tech-support replied with instructions on how to disable half of my installed RAM. This meant alternately rebooting Windows every time I wanted to play the game or use my full RAM. :silly:

Awesome costumer service steam has going on. Selling games that won't work on modern hardware with no warning. Great business plan. I had this same problem with the first 2 Gothic games, these steam versions don't work at all on windows 7 and you have to download fan patches to get the games to work. Steam sucks dick sometimes.

If it was like New Vegas but in space, that would be actually great.

Wow, if that's the case, it could really be what the Fallout community needs right now. A few years ago, I would have been very much hyped at the mere speculation of something like this. However, in the age of Fallout 4, Pokemon Go, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, I will reserve my excitement until I know the developers are more interested in making a good game than gouging people for downloadable content. I want to trust Obsidian, but in the current video game climate and after hearing about the departure of people like Avellone, I will keep myself cautiously optimistic.

Voted for Fallout of course, but I wouldn’t want them to make a sequel anymore because it’d have to be a sandbox FPS. Rather an AA level spinoff that allows for different design methods to be explored (even if not going full iso/tb).
