Why has no one ported Fallout 1 or 2 to tablets?

First time out of the vault
Hi all,

I’m really curious why no developer has yet ported Fallout 1 or 2 to tablets officially. I know that there is ways to play themit un-officially, but with lots of problems.

I see that Black Isle’s Planescape: Torment and Baldurs gate have been ported officially on iOS and Google Play.

Any thoughts?

I would like it to be. I think it would work really well.

However quite simply bethsda own the rights. So if the they don't commission it then its no go. It really ultimately up to them.

I agree with you 100%. That being said, wouldn’t one think that since FO1/2 has a HUGE old school fan base(and lots of new fan base more so recently) that they could profit off of porting the games to Tablets?

Woah, I never really thought about that.

It'd work very nicely as well.

But as said previously, Bethesda owns the rights.

Supposedly the source code for the games has been lost to time- something to do with Interplay going tits up I think- but with tablets being such different hardware and OS from Windows 98 PCs, it would have to be re-made from the ground up anyway.

That’s so sad :(

I’m going to try and put it on my iPad Air 2 as I just jailbrome it and see how it plays.

I’ll let you guys know!

To be honest Bethesda don't care about the older Fallout games. It's doubtful that they'd take the time and money to port these games to mobile, they'd end up taking a loss. They're more likely to port Fallout 3 and NV to the switch, or remaster them or something :\

‘‘Tis is the truth :(

I don’t get it, why won’t they give credit and recognize the founder games which started it all. Todd Howard is an idiot.

I don't think it's Todd Howard, he only makes the games, he doesn't own Bethesda. I've got the feeling he just does what he's told to do. I'd say it's more to do with the older games not being that popular. You might think they are, but i don't know a single person in real life (except myself) who has played them.

I sooooo feel you! I had asked a few friends if they knew of Fallout 1/2 or tactics. I recall only one close buddy who actually played it.

The first time I stumbled onto the game was actually in my 20’s I believe. So I never really knew of the games in my younger days....But, I was born in the 80’s so I naturally loved all old school PC games that were TB-RPG’s.

nice story. I started on Fallout 3, but when I got more into the community I got my first taste of old school Fallout. I bought the games, played them all and I've been hooked ever since. Really I can say from personal experience that the original games aren't that popular in the general public, actually when I first completed Fallout 3 and NV it never even crossed my mind to look at the older Fallout games, almost like they didn't exist. Thinking about it, I've got one friend who was played Fallout 2, but said he didn't get it :/

Pretty sure Bethesda likes to pretend NV didn't happened because it reminds them that someone else did a major better Fallout game than them with their engine.

I hope they put fallout 4 or the first 2 fallout games on the switch
