World map-The hole north America. And to have an little maps for every state. Many many maps :? .

I say go further, have the ENTIRE PLANET be in the map, but trravelig to new continets is hard.

It would be interesting to see how Russia and China survived the War.In fallout 2 - the president of The Enclave says "Well at least we nuked em back to the stone age" but in their base is a monitor showing a map of the whole world and there are red spots all over it.So what are the Enclave doing there if Russia cant be a threat?

Maybe im missing something that is explaned in the Bibles. If so please inform me becouse I am interested.

It would be fun tp lay that as well, because you wouldnt know the language, and would act like an 3 or lower characther in that you wouldnt speak the language.

Course, this could be fixed by having some transalator robot, or a NPC that can translate.

It would certainly be intersting.

Hey, I've never thought of that before. Fallout somewhere else than the states! That would have been cool. :D
Fallout in Norway! :wiggle: Oh that would have been funny!

Actually, Van Buren was supposed to take place near Denver. Sounds surreal to me since I live there.

Since we're on the topic, I just can't resist: Would you like to play a game?

The midwest

I wouldn't mind a map centered on the midwest. But it may not be too exciting. Burned farms, mutant cattle, new methanphetimes that put Jet to shame.
Another local that would be interesting would be to see Africa after the big blast. I imagine the wild life might mutate or evolve which would give rise to a post nuclear Jurassic Park. Man could once again be pitted against nature and be on the losing end. Using a mini-gum on a pack of radiated carnivarous gazelle might even be as enthralling as using an SMG on a wayward raider.
Anyway, two location suggested. One only for the midwesterners and the other for those who want to dink around with Darwin.

I echo that :D

Upon seeing the wastness of Fallout 2, compared to the first game, I started fantasizing how number 3 would be, which seemed at the time to be announced next summer. What can I say, big dissapointment back then, even.

What I imagined, was a BIIIG world, first we could play the entire North America to start, then expansion packs for the rest of the world:

Original Game: Character begins in the Northern States and near the end finds a gate to the prominent south, which entreance is protected by a powerful guardian robot. However it is old and mailfunctioning.
First expansion: The character gains access to the South America and finds that this place is dissappointingly advanced, compared to where he came from. However, from here, he gains access to veichles and transportations to the other parts of the world.
Second: Europe, back to Primal Age.
Third: Africa, the underwater world.
Fourth: Asia, Radioactive Wasteland.
Fifth: Australia, the lucky ones.

Anyway, this was just my own fantasy at play, while I still thought expansions were a good way to add to a game. But I've grown wiser now, after playing NWN for two years in a row.

That they need to expand the Fallout universe is no doubt. But, after biting my fingers in anticipation, making them bleed over my keyboard, thinking "soon, soon!!" I am now overjoyed by the fact that it is confirmed that I WILL see a Fallout 3 at all. Good or not, time will tell. I will be satisfied by their attempt alone.

No offence to noone.
Have fun!

FO tactics was set in Chicago. I know that surreal feeling because that's where I live. Although I kind of hate the city so it was nice thinking of it was a ruined and blasted pile of radiactive rubble. Bet it doesn't smell like urine now bwahahahaha.

I agree with the making the whole world. This might be one place where's the scale that they use at beth might be cool. Morrow wind was pretty huge for a game world. The problem that I see with that though is scaling difficulty based on levels. I mean, when you at around lvl 20 or so your just about unstoppable so what's the point in traveling the world unless it's for the plot. But it would detract a lot from each local area that you visited. Instead of large maps to explore they would likely become limited to a town or a city.

Nevermind, scratch the whole world thing. What's fallout without miles and miles of wasteland?

And the French would nuke the US for the heck of it.

WAR! A state of war is declared as China invades the United States by way of Alaska! Protests by the US fall on deaf ears as the UN council chooses to ignore this blatant act of aggression. The President of the United States is calling on YOU to help defend our country against those that would do harm to her. YOU are urged to go down to your local recruiting office and join the armed forces. Uncle Sam needs YOU! For Justice, for Freedom and Mom's Apple Pie.

Thanks to the brave souls of the armed forces and our newly developed power armored combat suits, US forces have pushed back the Chinese invaders. Crippled by lack of fuel, US forces have pushed the invaders back to their home capital of Beijing.

Old post, I know, but wasn't the UN dissolved years before the conflict in the Fallout universe?

I too have some ideas on how the world map should be played out. I think that the actual map location should be located roughly around the east coast of the US and as far in as Chicago so you can add some BoS from Fallout Tactics elements into it (more like Fallout 1's relationship with them) and also as north as Canada (which will correspond with my climate thread Canada = cold). Most importantly though should be impassable areas on the physical map, like mountains which no person could possibly climb *or neccessary items required for it (molerat parka, rope, climbing tools etc.) I think this would add a very realistic element to fallout and also give newer players a task to obtain these items.

but the war only lasted for two breef hours, so who cares *who* launched them, everybody did, just not the same places

Wait a tic' doesn't the Enclave President say "We fought from the Yukon to the Yangtze? If the war was only 2 hrs than the Americans would of had to of had troops already mobilized in China! I came to have believed that the US army wasn't having much success until the T-51B Powered Armour suit came out, In which case the Americans would have human tanks and Power Armour Blitzkrieg the hell out of them, oh yeah and when the president mentions "Yangtze" he is stating if not Implying that the US was fighting the Chinese, or at least the war was fought of Chinese territory.

Re: Another World Map Suggestion

The war lasted several years. Read the Fallout Bible.

God does this thread suck.

Uhm... no? I won't even bother to explain to you why, as I'm certain someone more eager than me is going to arrive soon to this thread. Pray it's not Rosh :D

Fallout 1 didn't have a relationship of any kind with Tactics, I'm afraid.

That would mean Fallout's moving north with every title in the series, eh? ;) Not a bad idea, if you really wanted to implement the features you've mentioned.

EDIT: Edited and removed double post now that the threads are merged.

Why is this in a seperate thread? Makes no sense. Merged.

Sorry I must have not been clear enough on what I meant, not Fallout: Tactics' Brotherhood's relationship with Fallout 1 (come on how dumb could I possibly be?) I meant the actual Brotherhood, player character relationship from Fallout one, just with Fallout Tactics version of the Brotherhood....sorry.

The problem is that Tactics' Brotherhood story is largely inconsistant with Fallout. In Fallout, the Brotherhood was a secluded and xenophobic society, and what happened in Tactics was completely illogical in that light.

Yeah, but then again the reason for the Brotherhood's being in the Chicago area is because they WANTED that newer idealogy, but you are correct, do not include Chicago area in new Fallout, just stash T-51B power armor in a locker in some robot infested military base.

As for the Brotherhood itself, fuck em, Fallout Tactics and Fallout PoS have both made a mockery of them anyways, a mockery we can do without.

As far as I'm concerned, they could do the setting anywhere they want as long as it's desert. The hole world would be a huge desert after a nuclear war, right? But I especially want it to be HUGE. And detailed(I mean with settlments, towns, etc.). I would like the only thing to stop me going farther to be the danger, just like the extreme west from Fallout2(Enclave proximity). I will sure miss New Reno if they wouldn't do it again.

The same map area as FO2 would be good...to revisit locales from fallout 2, just like, when playing fallout 2 you were revisiting locales from fallout, and characters.
Talking about game locations which happen to be where you actually live....Illusion softworks (the makers of H&D and Mafia) have just released news of a new game called 'Enemy in Sight'. It is described as being similar in ways to 'operation flashpoint' and features over 100 square kilometers around Plymouth in the UK, reproduced from aerial photography and suchlike. I live just 20 kilometers from Plymouth and am looking forward to driving a Tank up my local high street and blowing the whole place up. I can but hope!
