World of Starcraft or World of Diablo

megatroll, it costs a lot of money to maintain these games as well though. Everquest is supported by 1100 dual cpu servers. Not to mention development costs.

While the games that succeed can make a hefty penny from the monthly income... if the game fails they've just thrown away millions in development and servers. With 56 games on that list (I refuse to count Fallout :)) can you divide up the potential market for mmo's and get a reasonable pool for each of them? Even if a person plays 3-4 mmo's at a time, that's a lot of games to split them between.

You're going to need to make a lottt of expansion packs to earn back your money if your fan base isn't big enough :).

Indeed, it's amazing how many MMOgames don't ever actually make it to light because the publisher pulled funding from the developer after reviewing their market. Dozens of them are pulled every year, even ones with tons of potential and a large fanbase already following.

I'm going to spec already that of those 56, only about 8-12 make it to the box.

Megatroll, please use punctuation and capital letters, your post is very hard to read.
Consider this a friendly warning, but next time we are going to have words.
