Would you have liked Fallout 3 more if it were like STALKER?

Without wanting to sound rude, is there a reason why? If Stalkers plot and immersion are better and it's combat is also better (though you may not agree), then what's the appeal of FO3? Less crippling bugs?

Better gameplay overall. I love side quests. STALKER did not really have side quests, and I found exploring was not fun like I found Fallout 3's exploration to be.

Fallout 3 is more like STARLKER than a proper Fallout game to begine with...
Ha ha, I can't disagree with that.

The similarities are striking.

STALKER was great, could have been amazing if they didn't cut back so much stuff. Just check out the 1935 build and see how massive the levels are.

I am currently playing clear sky and it's pretty good but I made the mistake of playing it unpatched and lost a character to a crippling game breaking bug. After I patched it up the game is really fun to play with territorial wars and the ability to join several different factions.

Also Stalkers X-ray engine is just about photo-realistic if you've got the rig for it.

I can't believe it's not STALKER. Oh, wait. Yes I can!

For the longest time, I thought Fallout 3 was a really great game: I thought it was unique and interesting, even though I played Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Two days ago I purchased STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. Then I realized: Fallout 3 isn't good. It's controls suck, the plot is boring, and there is virtually no challenge.

Why couldn't Bethesda have made a STALKER clone in lieu of an Oblivion clone? It would have lasted longer...

Stalker has no preconceived notion about morality or a real goal. You can progress and do as you will. You also are very much alone and feel creeped out a whole lot. There is no question that geeks rolling dice might see STALKER as a shooter not an rpg. It is more of an rpg than 90% of "classic" rpgs. You actually play....

a role.

Yes, stalker was a lot better than fallout3. It is difficult, freightening, better artwork (hello, color?) and at the end you feel quite accomplished. If it had more dialogue it would feel more like an rpg. However, the atmosphere transcended you from USA to 1980's soviet life in a desolate land.

f3 makes me cry. I try to replay it.

Stalker was better than F3? No way! It was boring. Much more plain and simple. And probably you liked it because you are US resident :)
Yes, it creates some warm feelings when you see familiar things from real life, like those authentic industrial scenery. But nothing like Fallout does.

i would rather play fallout 3 as FPS then as it is.
it would simply be FPS in Fallout world. nothing wrong with that.
FPS where you could kill people with one headshot sounds good.

STALKER makes Fallout 3 look like ET The Video Game.

It's rather inevitable, given the similar post-apocalyptic setting that both games have. Given Fallout 3's popularity, people sometimes look for another game similar to it. I agree with you about STALKER being superior

Absolutely not, STALKER pales in comparison to FO3 in both RPG and FPS aspects. Also unlike STALKER, FO3 nails the post-apocalyptic atmosphere.
