Wtf? My uncle has gone crazy

You shared a flat with Wooz? Tell us!

not that bad sorry

But he did have a clock obsession you walked into his room and it was like *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* *tick* and then there were the post it notes he had up on his walls reminding him "not to love satan"

my other flatmate was joking away with him one day and said something along the lines of his cat talked and how it was his messenger or something (just general crap talk) and the unbalanced guy believed him and started telling everyone that the other guy had a cat that could talk and how it was his evil messenger.

Well actually, the quantum properties are a combination of the whole, but the box is just used to create uncertainty, the cat is what is in question.

yes exactly, it's the cat which has the quantum properties, not the box, or the cat wouldnt be needed...

No not quite, without the box there is no quantum property of the cat.

It takes the combined whole to get quantum properties, otherwise its just a cat or just a box.

Have two cats in the box instead of one?

Same thing, I suppose, as one can't survive and have the other one live, not in a probably sense considering it was supposed to be some sort of poison gas device

Eh? Was he preparing for Captain Hook's return?

Looky-looky I got Hooky!

Do what I did with my Manic Schitzo uncle: Watch him like a hawk, be cautiously polite and jovial, then CQC his ass if he turns violent.

EDIT: People in a warped state of mind usually can ignore huge amounts of pain, allowing them to exhibit almost superhuman ability, but you have something they dont: Control. If he is going off, try to calm him down first, if he doesn't seem to be reacting in the way you hoped, try to keep him away from objects that can be easily turned into weapons (Tools, Blades of all kinds, weapons themselves), if he does get his hands on something like that, BOOK. Bolt like a Giants fan at a Jets bar. And then call 911. If you can't get away, don't panic, and don't worry about hurting your uncle, you need to get to safety no matter the cost, once he's properly medicated he'll understand.

Heh. My opinion is that anyone who gladly hands their cat over to a barely-clad man with bloody hands who's clearly not making a whole lot of rational sense, and then seriously seeks advice on a forum dedicated to a video game set in a dark, gritty, violent alter-future probably *needs* a crazy, homicidal uncle in their lives just to provide them with some much needed sanity and perspective.

But that may just be me.

So the cat is toxic?

About the uncle: just stay out of his way, keep whatever pets you really care for out of his reach and make sure he doesn't burn the house down. Or blow it up; or flood it... you get the picture...

Lol, no, there is another component of the traditional experiment.
There is a poison capsule in the box with the cat that has 50% chance of going off at every second.

So every second the cat might be dead, in quantum terms it is half dead and half alive, due to the probability of its survival.

So until observed, the cat is both alive and dead.
It's a basic metaphor for how quantum particles exist, as mere probabilities, both existent and non-existent at the same time.

I thought you were just making fun of a cat in a box; but when you put it like that it actually makes sense :)
