I have made two custom characters. One for the main character, as a pre-made that you can just 'Take' it from New Game menu(simply call 'Ech'), and the other that has been planned to replace Farsight and Stitch at the first mission(simply call 'Ach').

Here's some issues I'm having with that I cannot figure out how to work around.

    1. Ech starts with 0. That's right. It's dead before you even pick it and start the game. I have made Ech by selecting 'File' > 'New' > 'Actor' at the Entity Editor, and I noticed ANY characters that has been made this way start with 0 health. So this might be the same problem that Ach is having as well. How do I make them start with full health as they should?

    2. I don't know how to replace Ach with Farsight and Stitch. I've tried Level Editor, placed Ach at the beginning, but I don't know how to get rid of Farsight and Stitch.

    3. Tough Guy mode issue. Here's the brief -
    * Clicking 'Take' button at the pre-made character: will keep the character's description, but the Tough Guy mode will be disabled.
    * Clicking 'Modify' button at the pre-made character: will NOT keep the character's description, but you can enable Tough Guy mode at character status screen.
    * WHAT I WANT: keeping both pre-made character's description and Tough Guy mode enabled game.
Tell me this is possible plz...

I have solved all the issues.

God, I love this community. I love it so much after ATOM RPG community. That one's the best, and this one deserves a second.

Can't do #3 the way you want. If you go to the character screen to click tough guy then your allocated points must be within accepted parameters. Like 40 points to distribute to your 7 primary human stats, or 47 if the Gifted trait is taken, with none exceeding 10 to start. If you want more then you have to add booster potions to the game and take them after the game starts. Making booster potions requires learning how the Elixir of Life is made and then deriving a way to make it for other stats.

Stitch and Farsight can be tweaked but their appearance is hard coded.

At last, someone replied. But as I feared, the answer is completely out of topic and useless.

The reason why I address issue #3 was that I wanted to keep the character's description, not its busted stats, which I didn't even attempt.

That's not the point. I want to get rid of them and replace them with my custom made character.
You should also have guessed with all the issue #2's containment text has been slashed, the problem was solved before you even address it.

Please. If you're not gonna bother to read the original post, then don't even bother leaving a comment as a solution. You're literally wasting both your time and mine.

You can change the stats in the editor, like I said. You just don't get to boost them above 40 Normal or 47 Gifted total if you want to go to the edit screen to mark Tough Guy. If you want more points then you have to boost the characters points after the game starts, or you have to skip the edit screen to mark Tough Guy. You were given your only two choices. Not my problem that you consider them the choice you want.

So you think I read what you wrote somewhere else and answered you in this thread? If I had not read your OP then you wouldn't have been answered. Not sure which grade of logic you are using here. Common Core education? After my time.

Just because you don't like the answers you get doesn't grant us a magic wand to make you happy.

I noticed too a while ago that character description is ripped off as soon as you press MODIFY or CREATE button, and there is just no way to edit it. Personally, I removed CREATE button in my mod (makes it crash) and I am a bit sorry about this damn problem as you are, as hitting MODIFY button does not make the character description be out of topic at all. It still makes sense, but disappear.

I am quite sure you will need someone with Hex edit capabilities to remove that ereasing action from the hardcoded BOS.exe. This is the only solution I can think of. If someone magically do that, I coule be interested by the hex codes too...

Yes. You have absolutely no idea what I'm on about in this thread and you're constantly stating something that nobody asks you for.

I already stated myself clear that I'm NOT looking for the way to keep the character's MODIFIED STATS with Tough Guy mode enabled, and here you are. Going on about stat points and what not.

And your circular logic is complete. Bonus that you got a tantrum in as well.

I wanted the character's DESCRIPTION to be intact when I enable Tough Guy option, not the character's STATISTICS.

You were stating this issue, as if I ever asked how to keep character's statistic value while enabling Tough Guy option, which I hadn't ask for.

You are clearly out of this thread's topic and being the one who can't read what people have stated in their posts.

Tough guy mode doesn't affect description. That's handled by the locale files. Only thing tough guy mode does is force you into the modify character screen where your SPECIAL stats must remain within stated parameters.

So it doesn't matter what you were talking about. I stated the only effects you had to deal with if you wanted to toggle tough guy. Therefore my answer is the only valid thing worth discussing.

Say whatever you want now to save face. We both know that toggling tough guy only affects one aspect and I answered it correctly.

...which will automatically remove any pre-made character's description, if you choose to do so. So ultimately, you lose pre-made character's description, if you've enabled Tough Guy option in character modify menu. It does matter. Tough Guy mode does affect description in this way.

Then you should have stated how, and why the pre-made character's description has nothing to do with enabling Tough Guy mode first.

You've only stated what you think it matters, without any explanations of how so whatsoever. You didn't properly explain the reason of why "I can't keep pre-made character's description while keeping Tough Guy mode" - which was my issue, has anything to do with "All the character stats must remain at valid status".

You were constantly stating "If you want to have busted stats with Tough Guy option, try this and that" - as if I ever wanted that. You've never, ever explained how this has anything to do with the issue I'm having. This is the very first time you've stated how "all stats must remain valid" has anything to do with my issue.

And as a matter of fact, your answer is incorrect as well. Pre-made character's description goes away the moment you choose to 'modify' the pre-made character, and manage to finish 'modifying'(=Clicking 'DONE' in character creation) pre-made character.

    So your statement;

"You must have valid stats for pre-made character when modifying it, so that you can complete the character 'modifying' while keeping Tough Guy mode"

...has literally nothing to do with the issue I'm having, since even if I match the stats to be valid, and successfully start the game with Tough Guy mode enabled, I wouldn't be able to keep the character's description anyway. What you are constantly stating doesn't matter at all.

I know this had been dragged away far too long, and got heated as well, but let's just be civil for once. I will withdraw my statement about you didn't even bother to read the thread, as it would seem like you did read it. But your answer is not only incorrect, but out of topic. Keeping character's stats to be valid has nothing to do with keeping character's description in any way.

Hope this will be the end of this discussion.

Since hitting modify and toggling tough guy doesn't change character description in my game then I'm just watching you rant about a non-issue.

Once I set up the prefab character and ensure I've not crossed the SPECIAL stats limits then nothing changes. Extra tags, extra perks, boosted skill percentages, whatever, it all stays just fine. Description is set in the character text page in the locale folder and using modify to toggle tough guy doesn't change it either. Absolutely only the SPECIAL stats have to conform to 40 (47 with Gifted) in the modify screen. Everything else just passes on through. I can set my prefab up with 50 perks, 300 small arms, 6 tag skills, and describe him as a jerk and the modify screen doesn't care. I just can't give the prefab more than 40 attribute points.

Maybe you have a trash game version. I have the original first day March 2001 discs. Not my problem. My descriptions stay right where they belong.

Does that mean if you modify Mick, or whatever pre-made characters, and hit DONE to finish modifying them result into them having an intact character description in the next scene, the Brahmin Wood starting point? That's not how my game works.

I have latest patch from Steam re-released version. version 1.27 I think. I don't consider latest patch to be as a 'trash' as you've addressed, but I'm certain that is not how modifying pre-made character works.

I use the discs and then I use the official 1.27 patch that I downloaded when it was released ages ago and kept.

And yes, if I click on Mick, modify him on the screen or just click tough guy, then anything that I didn't modify stays the same (including description) and I go into Brahmin Wood.

Steam? I would never use anything Steam related ever. Never had an account and never will. If it's not dedicated freeware then I own physical copies of all software I use, even my OS. Why trust a company to hold your software hostage if they want to change the rules down the line?

You somehow think you have the exact same version as mine. Does yours force feed you a preview of Antaeus Rising from 2001 before you start? Does your invite you to the defunct Gamespy Arcade? Does yours suggest updating your DirectX to 8.0? If yours doesn't then the software was tinkered with. You just have some butchered version offered by a software hostage taking company.

Amazon will offer you an original factory sealed version like mine with the big box, 3 discs, and printed game book for $180 if you want the real thing.

Why all the aggression all of a sudden? I never stated anything like, "You should use Steam." I just stated I have Steam version of this game. I don't care how you feel towards Steam and again, nobody asks you.

    That is not true.

Only if you're living at the region where Amazon bothers to send a product for you. I don't think they send a product to my region without any shipping issue. There was a reason why I purchased this game on Steam. Please don't be so disrespectful on that.

This discussion really gets out of place. Let's just end here.

I tend to agree with zeke, I don't like steam too. Never use that piece of shit site. I don't know why it began to be mainstream. I tried it once, I didn't like it because they pushed me to download their retarded .exe files (for steam engine platform i think) or something, it was like 9 years ago. Furthermore, the steam community is plain toxic.
Not to mention the .exe file was moving slowly back then.

Also, too much censorship on that site, for example Postal 2 was censored because of "so much blood". Zeke's right, they modify games sadly...

I think I have had the game book once, but lost it. Since I bought the game CD right in 2005-2007.

Seriously, after all your rude behavior? I owe you no better than what you offered me. Deal with it. You reap what you sow.

Your game problem is a non-issue to those with the real game. Bye now.
