Almost made me want to play it, heh.

Like... Oh my god... Could they try any harder to make Mr 111 any more cool?
Look at his swagger and how he just shoots that radroach and how he gets into the suit and just fires at super mutants without even getting into cover.
He's sooooooo fucking coooool.

Like, he's not just some guy caught up in a whirlwind of conflict he never asked for that he has to trudge through in order to save himself or the people he care about.
Nah.
He's the cool awesome protagonist that you players get to play as, look at how cool he is. Aren't you glad you get to play as Mr Coolio C Mc-Cool-Cool?

Maybe I'm the only one but jesus christ I can't stand it when they try too hard to make someone cool.
(Same thing whenever someone tries to make something too cute or too evil or too sexy. I just find it laughable and pathetic)

Well, that's Bethesda's Fallout for you.

And so the Wanderer was mauled by the Muties he so foolishly engaged. And everyone lived happily ever after.

It is sort of odd that they're very much trying to make the Sole Survivor the star in their marketing rather than, you know, the world. Even with voice acting, the setting and the NPCs are always going to outshine the protagonist in a game like this (and this is as it should be.)

Just goes to show you what great time your teenage years are for gaming - you're too dumb to ask questions and can easily end up spending 12 hours playing a game and having a blast. I hate and love that time at the same time.

Also, this is pretty much the norm for all big games now. At least they skipped the dramatic orchestral score of two chords with a sudden stop and then a huge comeback with increased tempo and intensity, where at the very peak it stops and you see the name of the game. Don't know how to feel about the overabundance of the 50' music though....

This was the same thing Bioware did with Mass Effect for a while, focus on the characters versus the world. We all know how much ME2 and 3 diverted from the formula set in the first game too.

That was...dull with the invincible dog and Mr. I love to wear spandex and firing an assault rifle with one hand to kill a rad roach. That doesn't make you look cool and there's no tactical advantage unless your arm can handle the recoil...oh await I for got he's superman all in one.

But I mean in Mass Effect, Shepard is not the star. Shepard is purely reactive in terms of what happens and you mostly choose between different flavors of "this is bad" and "we've got to stop them". The star of Mass Effect is the rest of the Normandy crew, and the galaxy itself. Don't advertise Mass Effect by telling us how great Shepard is, since Shepard is pretty much just a cipher. The star of Mass Effect, if there is one, is probably Garrus.

Probably a majority of the time in video games, the protagonist is the least interesting of all the major characters.

But then the game would be just some boring RPG, modern Fallout fans have always liked the series as a consequence-free power fantasy. Get with the times, gramps. :^)

I know. What I was getting at was Bioware got their priorities mixed up with Mass Effect 2 and 3 by focusing so much on one aspect of their games while leaving other aspects less developed. The worlds we got to explore in 2 and 3 felt much more hollow to me versus the ones in 1, even though there were more of them, including some we had only heard about in bits and pieces in games before.

I don't know if the fact that they didn't show any gameplay footage so far is a good sign or not.

Still, not bad trailer I guess. It is what it is and its purpose is clear for all.

We saw feral ghoul models floating across the ground and clipping through objects in the sneaky cam upload from a month ago, not to mention displaced shadows and possibly hovering in a few others, so I think they know they're going to have a huge patch come Day 1.

Com on guys. This is just a 1 min cinematic trailer after all. It is just there to generate hype and buzz. It tells zero about the actuall gameplay, like most of what Beth has shown so far. Outside of combat.

I don't know if that is a good or bad sign actually. I mean there is literaly almost zero information about how the gameplay will be (outside of combat), how the quests will be like, infor about the story line etc. There has been some hype going on for like how many weeks now? And I basically know not more about the game now as I did like 1 year ago.
