Would Sand Sharks Have Worked In A Fallout Setting,?

R.Graves

Confirmed Retard
I'd like to discuss all cut creatures eventually but this one from fo2 really caught my attention: the sand shark.

Now all I've been able to find on this thing is the name. But based on its name I'm sure it would have been like the graboids from tremors

(Loved those movies)

Anyway do you guys think such a beast or a similar one would fit with the setting? Or even work well gameplay wise?

Edit: this is literally all I could find:

I doubt it would've worked with the engine limitations but it would've been a cool enemy. The idea of something big being right underneath you in the ground... Ready to sprout up and take you in its maw and swallow you whole... Phew, I'm getting a bit hot all of the sudden.

I don't think it would've worked for fo2. But what about fallout 4? Could do some interesting things for survival mode. Being trapped on a rock waiting for them to leave off... Starving dehydrating. Leave too soon and a tough battles in your future.. I just think the concept has loads of potential.

I guess that'd be cool, kind of like that part in Half Life 2 where you have to stay off the sand otherwise antlions will attack you.

Exactly! But more graboidy. I dont know why but I just picture a similar creature to the graboid.

But I don't know how that could work in an open world game... Prolly should only have them in certain areas old world sewers, construction etc could be used to explain it

If I had the knowledge and desire; I would have loved to mod a random easter egg lore breaking encounter in fallout2 where the random desert map has some low level rumbling depicted by descriptive floating text then a giant sand worm burst through in front of party before quickly subsiding and leaving a little spice to be collected as a one time use chem. If you have ol'grampybone in your party during this encounter he would say some floating texts about "bless his coming and going" or simply "Shai Hulud"

Had to Google shai hulud. Came up with this:

FO4's engine could definitely handle it; it's what the radscorpions do.

Radscorps don't have tentacles and the like.... Anyway what do you imagine the creature to be like? I'm sure they weren't just going to have it literally be a shark.

Why don't people read/watch Dune anymore?
Just cause something is a classic doesn't mean everyone has to have seen/read/played it. I've never watched or read Dune either. I think I played an old Dune game for like half an hour or something though. I just haven't been interested in it. All I know is that it is sci-fi, there's sand and big ol worms. Not really a whole lot to get me intrigued. (Besides, I have too much in my backlog already. I have no interest in adding more stuff onto it. It's bloated enough as it is and it is taking forever to work through. Dune can wait, and if I never get around to it I don't really care all too much. I get enough giant worms in my porn anyway)

Rivalling factions are the most interesting thing about Dune, not sand and worms.
This all started with Ogloj-Chorchoj from ancient Mongolian myths anyway:

Sure, I'm not saying there isn't anything else to Dune but sand and worms, I just don't 'know' about anything about Dune 'but' sand and worms and since I have nothing else to go by I have no interest in reading up on it and getting invested in its setting.
