In Gaben (HSBUH) we trust

I have recently converted to the glorious religion of Holy Steam and I feel like I have a new purpose of mind and body, and a whole new purpose in life.
I have arrived to convert you all. Prepare to be enlightened.

We worship the Holy Trinity of Steam, which is composed of three parts:
  • Lord Gaben (HSBUH) himself
  • The Summer Sale
  • The Winter Sale
We worship both the Summer and Winter Sales in the hope they provide us with good games to play that will last us throughout both seasons.

We pray to Gaben (HSBUH) because he is our Lord and Savior.

HSBUH stands for High Scores Be Upon Him. When we write his holy name, we must put HSBUH after it to ensure we remain in his glorious favor.

I'll start you off with a basic prayer:

Our Lord Gaben (HSBUH) who art in Valve,
hallowed be thy games.
From Half Life One, to Portal guns,
On Linux as it is in Windows.
Give us this day our daily deals,
and forgive us our latency;
as we forgive out team mates who lag in co-op;
and lead us not into peasantry,
but deliver us from consoles

Amen

Thought for the day: Flame the origin user; He is the scum of Earth

I use GOG when ever I can. If a game that I have on Steam (and like to actually play) appears on GOG, the Steam version is likely to be abandoned. Happened already on a handful of games, and nowadays I only use Steam for newly released games I'm sure aren't going to pop out in GOG in any forseeable future (and those games are very, very few in numbers, being that most games these days, even in my preferred genres, aren't worth a purchase at full price or at all for that matter).

U-Play is a necessary evil with a couple of games I have, so that's just something I have to deal with, but that's also the full extent I use it.
Origin I won't touch. EA doesn't produce good games anyway.

appendix....

It's full of shit that there needs to be a multitude of these kinds of fucked up client platforms competing with each other and giving the users hard times logging in several times to several places just to play a fucking game. And incidentally the same goes for the console1 vs console2 vs console3 vs PC thing. From a user point of view it would be best to have everything under one flexible system.

Valve worship is one of the cringest fads I've ever seen (not to mention the most stale, reddit-tier meme in the world). They're not that great, they have a few good games, steam is only popular because its a borderline monopoly (with thimgs like GoG only recently becomming popular) , Gaben happily tried to fuck everyone over with paid mods and the special sales havent been really good in years. Valve is a company, not your friend.

I have both GOG and Steam, but use Steam usually, since I find it a lot more efficient having all my games on one library, as well as being able to see the amount of hours played and shit like that.

Can this be a holy hymn?

I need that shield texture tho

Okay, had to give this thread a few moments thoughts regarding the subject and content, but this belongs in the general gaming thread as it is about which online game stores are the best in general and regarding discount sales.

SILENCE. REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THIS THREAD, UNWASHED HERETIC.
You blasphemous dog, I should execute you for heresy right now.

This is a religious thread, not a gaming thread. Please take this elsewhere.

But Steam is pretty much shit nowadays. Big steaming pile of crap. It used to be good, I guess, given what Steam actually is, but it is pure, unfermented, steamy shit now.
And yeah, Valve products are hideously overrated. Sure they made a few great games, but are overrated generally and the popularity of their products nowadays mostly rests on the retardo fans which only prolong this myth of UberValve and their century-long development times and on shoulders of dumbasses obsessed with DOTA2.

GabeN is a good businessman, but he is only that. He isn't a hero, he is a capable man who makes money for himself. Same goes for his company.
Religiously adhering to either of those, even for nothing more but purposes of humor, is dumb.

Hey Atomkilla (BTW, really need to respond to your PM), in what way has Steam become bad?

As for Valve, I think they are to much riding on their past successes, and that is a fading glory.
Occasionally they bring out something but it is not the same company that made Half Life 1 or 2. (I doubt there will be a Half Life 3)

How many times must I reiterate this Brothers and Sisters!
This is NOT, categorically, a gaming thread. Its a RELIGIOUS one.

Either discuss the Church of Gaben(HSBUH) or GET OUT.
