Fallout 1 BOS

This is a thread for the long dead brotherhood, the original and the best. This is a place where we can discuss the virtues and flaws of the Original BOS presented in Fallout 1, which was to me the best representation of the Brotherhood to date. They had clear monastic traditions, a cool base, well written characters and an interesting history. They traded with others and weren't insanely xenophobic or isolationist.

They had great quests and the best Head Paladin (ROMBUS!!!) in the series. Fallout 2 did badly by barely having them even though they were the super power of the wastes with the Master's mutants. BOS (the game) ruined Rombus and them massively, however they were splinters and honestly, it was a spin off. Now Fallout 3... let's not go there.

Fallout NV did okay and Fallout 4 shitted upon them again. But through the different representations stand tall the true Brotherhood!

Glory to them, our brave brothers of steel.

Sadly, even though that doesn't explained why they fell apart from a Wasteland power to nothing... I mean sure, they didn't want to grow but that's disappointing.

I think the answer is rather squicky. The Brotherhood has pretty much zero population growth because it's members are always marrying other members. No one new is getting brought in so it's becoming less like a family tree and more like a family bush ala the Hapsburgs.

So? If they wanted to invade the Hub during the events of Fallout 1 NO ONE would stop them!

The Brotherhood of Steel is a peaceful organization who knows not conquest! They protect the world by taking harmful technology from humans!

Ergo, I'm more confused why they didn't massacre Vault City or the Ghoul Run Nuclear Plant.

NEIN!!! They're willing to massacre the Vipers and various other bandit groups.

Also, they might invade to 'help' the wayward wastelanders.

Vault City have advanced medical technology, not advanced weapon technology.
Because that they will have no interesting to harass them, just like they will usually not to harass follower of apocalypse(unless you let one of BOS scribes join FOA in NV)

I regret the Jackals and Vipers not being in Fallout.

:sniff:

I remember when the Jackals showed up in New Vegas and were the one group you couldn't talk to.

Ally with the Fiends, Powder Gangers, and Great khans to join with Yes Man. Get the Gangs on the Strip on your side!

Sounds good!

Caesar's Legion just doesn't know how to enjoy Raiding.

Yep, there should be a chaotic wild card ending. Sack the strip with a bunch of raiders and junkies. Maybe get one of the Three Families to ally with you and let you in. Rule the Mojave as a warlord from atop a pile of skulls in the Lucky 38.

Being a warlord is fun... especially when you have total control.

Personally I was always partial to the Tactics BOS faction. They were much more about surviving and adapting vs. the ever stringent typical BOS practices.

I would have enjoyed seeing them in the capital wasteland vs. Bethderps weird BOS bleeding hearts.

I always felt Elder Lyons should have been from the MWBoS and Arthur Maxson went back to their roots.
