Lonely Drifter
On their own, I think they are pretty decent. Human Revolution being superior to Mankind Divided but they are solid games on their own. However the shift of narrative and themes from the intrigue and conspiracies of the original Deus Ex over to this trans-humanist dilemma was overall a mistake. The world Deus Ex painted to us was a fascinating rabbit hole, thought provoking, and makes you uncomfortable after realizing that some of the conspiracies in the game aren't so far fetched as they seem. The original had elements of trans-humanism but it wasn't a very big part of it, but with the new games there really isn't any mystery or intrigue at all. What is there is more like an homage to the original since it's supposed to be a prequel, but in terms of focus it's quite a different game.
A return to form would make for a much better experience in my opinion, but that's just my two cents.
