I like fallout 3

Are y'all dogpiling over someone's innofensve preferences again?

You don't understand, Arnust. Whenever somebody says they enjoy a Bethesda game, it is a personal attack on us. They are literally committing assault. As the only true fans of this series, it is our duty to defend the honor of Tim Cain by pedantically refuting each and every point made by these heathens SENTENCE BY SENTENCE.

THEY WILL PAY FOR THEIR CASUAL PREFERENCES AND POOR UNDERSTANDING OF GAME DESIGN IN BLOOD. RRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEEEGGGGHHHH!!!!

Well I get it, I've been there. But
A) It's not a troll, an idiot or s blend of both and seems to come in peace
B) There's not really a fresh injury to be mad about
C) IT'S BEEN A DECADE HOLY SHIT

And well it didn't seem much like a great debate starter as much as explaining personal experience, and "my first post" being a bit of a reach in subject. If one wants essays against and for Fo3, the archive wipes were before 2008, it's all still here I'm pretty sure.

I do admit that i can come off as harsh in my posts because i tend to be direct. I wasn't trying to attack the OP or anything similar, just having an argument.

Fallout 3 is not the only divisive game that is still argued to this day about its quality. There's Megaman X6, Zelda 2, Sonic Adventure games, Super Mario Sunshine (yeah, you would be surprised how much this game is criticized) and several others. Don't think the amount of time that a game's quality has been argued about really matters.

I genuinely do not give a shit if people like Fallout 3 but if you ask for a discussion about it, then you'll get it. This is a forum after all.

This isn't just any forum either Norzan, it's No Mutants Allowed. Coming in here and starting a thread called "I like fallout 3" is like moving to Alabama and putting a sign in your yard that says "I love Hillary Clinton". You're just asking for confrontation.

You do realize that post was satirical, yeah? I thought the misuse of literally and the screaming would be dead giveaways.

That I knew but it was fuzzy on what it was satirizing. Plus didn't really matter to what I was saying :monocle:

If someone make a similar thread like this, except it's with FO: POS, would you still question why NMA is "dogpiling over someone's innofensve preferences again, AFTER MORE THAN A DECADE HOLY FUCK"?

Especially after the guy said stuff like, "Power of Atom is the exact same quest as Ghost Town Gunfight", without even elaborating how and why, and also said how NMA 'didn't want to admit it'.

Also, please elaborate how Norzan and the others were "dogpiling over someone's innofensve preferences again". Because the way I see it, OP's further elaboration on why he liked Fallout 3 WAS actually offensive by saying how Ghost Town Gunfight = Power of Atom without actually elaborating how, and he was accusing NMA of 'not wanting to admit it'.

Yes I try to be as fair as possible here but when your arguments are
- Power of the Atom = Ghost Town Gunfight
- Having half your life written for you allows for more creative freedom writing the rest of your life
then I think something has to be said.

OP, FO3 may be a half decent game in its own merits but you're not gonna win the 'roleplay' and 'quest' arguments here. Just look at the average quest trees of 3 and Vegas and it's clear. Also, if you were gonna bring up a good FO3 you could've used Tranquility Lane instead since that one was actually a gem but you instead picked hands down the worst 'quest' of the game.

And in all those years the game has not aged well. It's getting worse by the year.

OP, I'm going to assume FO3 is your first "Fallout" game; possibly even your first RPG???
I suggest you play it again. Try to have an unbiased look at it.
It's understandable to go "Oooohhhhh" when you first exit the vault (experienced that myself leaving Doc Mitchell's house since I grew up on the classics) and having that initial awe set the tone of your playthrough but try actually looking at the game's subcomponents objectively.

I like Fallout 3 too, specially when it is in TTW :boy:.

Damn it, I've been in the RPGCodex for too long.

Yeah, I have to agree with @MPPlantOfficial here. While there is nothing inherently wrong with liking Fallout 3, this guy's arguments were complete garbage. If you really want to make a case for the game, bring up engaging questlines like Keller Family Refuge or The Velvet Curtain. Don't even try to defend the tedious railroaded introduction or Megaton, as you will lose spectacularly.

"Inoffensive"
This is like saying thay saying highlander 2 is a great sequel and doesn't suck at all.
Seriously fallout 3 is a clunky and weightless shooter, a barebones and painfully linear rpg, and a fallout game that doesn't fit in universe or thematically so you'd hafta be a madman to say it's actually good.

I feel like you can comfortably sepparate "roleplaying potential", as for room for player invented agency that may not be acknowledged by the game in any way, to the RPG Design and mechanics. Of course he hasn't made that distinction, but it's coming across for me as the former.

Remember, you can like Fallout 3 but never explain why you like it otherwise we're going to need to teach you some manners.
