Learned to love the bomb

When you ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶i̶n̶s̶o̶m̶n̶i̶a̶ are a gamer in 2022, everything is a ̶c̶o̶p̶y̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶a̶ ̶c̶o̶p̶y̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶a̶ ̶c̶o̶p̶y̶ rehash of the sequel of the retconned reboot. The only two video games released in the last two years that have a story good enough to be even worth the bother of installing and playing are Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring. Sifu and Stray are interesting, but not altogether too impressive. Horizon Forbidden Dawn, Hitman 3, Total Warhammer 3 and Sniper Elite 5 might not be utter shit, but they innovate on absolutely nothing and are just sequels to unremarkable games themselves. Everything else is fundamentally e-waste.
I swear that I do a lot of searching to know about all of the games that are being released all of the time, I am more or less acquainted with every PC game released since 1995 that isn't some truly obscure arthouse piece or jam game (although I have played a lot of games of those two types as well), but the amount of games that actually peak my interest has been sharply dropping since 2017.
