Guy says that Fo3 has more roleplaying elements because it prevents you from Punching Butch at the begining of the game, and uses the optional tutorial quest to clean the geckos as proof of New Vegas lack of choice, despite the fact that just Goodsprings has more endings and skillchecks than the main plot of Fo3....
How the fuck does Fallout 3 have more roleplaying elements than New Vegas by preventing you from doing something like not punch Butch? That's the complete opposite of roleplaying, prevent you from doing something.
He's just a butthurt Fallout 3 fanboy that can't handle the fact New Vegas is a much better game, at least in roleplaying, writing, story and characters, than Fallout 3.
I don't think he actually said F3's options were better than NV's though. He simply mean't that there were choices given to the player when most say you're given none. The part with the Gecko's is about how skill checks aren't introduced properly until the gunfight whereas F3's intro delves right in.
MaTN also loves NV and he says it's his favorite Fallout game. That's the opposite of butthurt.
Except skills are introduce the very second you pick them in Doc Mitchell's house and you use the knick knacks and dialogue options. Fallout 3 doesn't even let you pick skills until after you shoot some roaches.
Good point, that's true. It's clear the game expects the Sunny side activity to be the first time with lockpicking though it will reward you for finding the things in Doc's house. I suspect new players would want to get out into the open world quickly so exploring the house first is a good way to introduce those elements if the player takes the time.
When he claims stuff like the roads being safe in NV and claiming it as handholding, saying the lack of roads makes Fallout 3 better in this regard because it's not handholding. This is completely false for starters because you can run into enemies, even Deathclaws, in the safe roads, so his bullshit of roads being more safe in NV and thus is handholding is complete bullshit.
He can also be flat out lying about New Vegas being his "favorite" to make his arguments have any weight, to make him seem unbiased. He calls Fallout 3 "an utter classic" in the description. His video is filled with so much bullshit that is almost ridiculous.
So yes, he's butthurt about the constant criticism Fallout 3 has been getting in the last several years.
He doesn't say "roads are 100% safe". He said if you follow the roads, you'll encounter a few enemies including raiders. You'll only encounter Deathclaws if you ignore all characters warnings and head north anyways. Besides, the point of the roads part was about how it encouraged exploration, not that it was handholding.
