They can rise up later if they do this. If the Turks get in and then get excuse after excuse to keep on going, they won't. Syria has to face the TFSA anyway down the road - revenge; but this time with Russian and Syrian air support.

They kind of can't. The terrain is flat and practically indefensible. Turkish forces are gaining staggering terrain day by day, and Erdogan has promised to "fix the demograpghics" of the region, which is some really dark shit to say out loud.

He has expressed a desire to relocate upto 3 million Syrian arabs in Syrian Rojava, which means the Kurds will *have to go away*, where "away" is deliberately remains vague. The Kurds have reason to fear for absolute annihilation Armenian-style. If we know one thing from history, is that we do not necesarily learn all that much.

Eh, many Syrians hated the Kurds even before the war (because, well, everyone hates everyone else down there, and the Kurds in particular), and they felt stabbed in the back after the establishment of Rojava. They won't shed too many tears. Also, how is anyone surprised that Erdogan wants to stomp the Kurds?

I'm not surprised, just bummed. It shouldn't be such an obvious outcome that an ethnic minority in a region be bound for annihilation, and it only being a question of time. I'm also not expecting the Syrian gvt to line-dance with their Kurd fellows anytime soon either. The deal is back to good old subjugation over complete erradication.

At least the Kurds did capture a good deal of terrain, well beyond their territorial homelands, which did indeed come out handy as a bargaigning chip. The rest is dwindling quickly now.

Nobody is suprised the Turkish would be happy to carry out a genocide, but rather that the US allowed such an obvious outcome for the personal gain of a few elites. Even the Republicans are angry about it.
