Kinda how like they are all in favour of Free Speech, unless someone uses that free speech to disagree with what they are saying, at which point it suddenly becomes "censorship"
People say, that things are differnt today. But the more I am thinking about it ... the more do I think, it's all just the same. The french have this saying too, the more things change, the more do they stay the same.
Safe spaces, trigger warnings, freeedooom! Etc. All those things existed before. I mean try burning a flag in the 1950s. Or talking about socialism in the 60s. Or protesting against Vietnam, and buring a flag while talking about socialism in the late 60s. Or if you told someone in Texas in the 50s that a black man will be president.
Crni read up on the late roman republic and what seantors and politicians were on about, strikingly similar. Hell Ive studied translations of cuneiform tablets which consist of students complaining about the amount of homework they are given. Nothing new under the Sun, eh
Went to the mass student protest 5 years ago in Colombia where the government tried to pass a law that was gonna privatize all public colleges, we managed to repealed it.
Vic ... Our Walnut here, is a Colombian. Not only is he dealing with deadly spiders, but he is also from a nation that saw its fair share of dicktators and and wars. Most of todays US Americns who never left their own nation, are in no position to lecture him on what "opression" is.
One president once made a weak suggestion that they might tighten their gun laws then proceeded to do nothing, he has live through worse hell than North Koreans!
This is fucking stupid. People can protest if they want. But when they start rioting and vandalising, then it becomes a crime- because they're causing damage to other people's property. Just because there's no oppressive Government it doesn't somehow justify destroying shops.
Riots are part of civil revolt, if you live in the US then you should probably become aware that you didn't get your "freddooommmss" by your ancestors asking nicely for things to be fixed. There is also the issue of undercover saboteurs and media manipulation to overreport on "riots" whenever protests are going on.
During the student protests here our 50 year old Boogieman was always being mentioned "Links to the FARC are being investigated!" and all that, police brutality is also never even brought up on this "They are criminals RIOTS!!!!" shit, even tho that is far more common.
I don't live in the US, and I see where you're coming from, I'm just saying that Vic was right. He was hostile, but people shouldn't be allowed to riot. I agree with you on protesting, I can see Trump conforming to protesters on some issues (believe it or not there are people that agree with many of his ideas but dislike others.)
