For me it was stable until versions 1.3/1.4 came out, after that it's crashing from time to time, and framerate jumps from 25 to 60 fps.. But I did not played it in weeks to see how it is now, and I do not plan to anytime soon...

All that stuff with Survival mode sounds cool, expect saving the game, this is Bethesda game after all.. I don't want to fight bugs/crashes and if I want to reload the game (because of them) from 30-60+minutes session, then I will need to first find a bed, if the game will not crash before that lol.
