10 best games.

Hmm, a tough choice but here it goes.

6. Sanitarium - first game I ever finished, one of the best adventures there is
7. Counter Strike - this one beacuse many LANs and nights were wasted on it

10 of the best PC games (in no particular order)

# Ultima 7: A game so big it had to be released in 2 parts and 2 expansion packs. Shame it was the last great Ultima game.

# Star Control 2: Because 13 years on, it still rocks.

# Alpha Centauri: The true sequel to Civilization, and has yet to be bested.*

# Serious Sam: The Second Encounter: If you ask me to name just one good FPS game, this is it. It's fun, it's challenging, it's brainless blasting.

# Psychonauts: In my mind, the game of the year 2005, and destined to be a classic. If only they'd release it in Europe...

# Fallout: Duh.

# Fallout 2: Duh-DUH!

# Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase: The best Hot Seat-multiplayer game on the PC.

# UFO: Enemy Unknown: Known as X-COM: UFO Defense to the Americans, this is the game every game publisher has been trying to recreate, without success.

# System Shock: Even if the game was crap, it would be worth playing just to listen to SHODAN. But even though the interface is ancient by today's standards, it's still an kickass game.

Some console games worth mentioning:

# Bubble Bobble: A timeless classic.

# Metal Slug X: At least I think it's the X one. The one with all the aliens, at least.

# Chrono Trigger: The best "Final Fantasy"-type game I have played.

# Parodius: What's better than a Shoot 'em Up? A SHMUP that makes fun of other SHMUPS, that's what.

* Civilization IV might accomplish this, but I would have to play it first.

1. Fallout 2
(Unique classic game, love the post apocalyptic feel and love the detail of the game)

2.Call of Duty 2
(Great action)

3.Theme Hospital
(Very special game)

4.Total War: Shogun
(king of strategy genre)

5. DuesX
(nice developed story lines)

 Most hated Games :!: Fallout:Tactics :!: , its just boring. No real character development and lack of story line.
Also Too many battles (hate the idea of controlling all characters :!: )

Well here goes in no real particular order:

- Fallout 1/2

- Simcity 4 Rush hour

- Homeworld

- The Rollercoaster Tycoon Series

- Baldurs Gate 2

- Age of Empires 2 Conquerors Expansion

- Civilization 2 & 3 (haven't played 4 yet, or even 1)

- Diablo 1 & 2

- Stronghold 1 Crusader (not 2 due to obvious reasons)

- Transport Tycoon

I know that many RPGs don't make this list for the simple fact that I copare them to Fallout and realise how poor they are by comparison.

Well some console titles include:

- Super mario 1-3 on SNES

- Full Spectrum Warrior (Xbox)

- Conkers Bad Fur Day (N64)

- Underground 1&2 (Xbox)

- Goldeneye (N64)

Well thats all I can think of as is...

Cheers,
The Duckman

FALLOUT 2
FALLOUT
NEED FOR SPEED/HIGH STAKES
FINAL FANTASY 7
CARMAGEDDON 2
CARMAGEDDON/SPLATPACK ADDON
ROOLERCOASTER TYCOON
DESCENT FREESPACE
THE ADVENTURES OF BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD(SEGA)
SHINING FORCE(SEGA)

1. Fallout
2. Crusader: No Remorse
3. Fallout 2
4. Crusader: No Regret
5. Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn

Honourable mentions:
  • Arcanum -- Great game, just too buggy
  • Burntime -- Great PA strategy game, but too difficult
  • Deus Ex -- Good genre mix
  • Diablo -- Very good hack'n'slash
  • Jagged Alliance 1 & 2 -- Good strategy games
  • Planescape: Torment -- Good RPG, just not my taste of setting
  • Sanitarium -- Very twisted Adventure game
  • StarCraft -- Good RTS with great community support
  • WarCraft 2 -- Best game of its franchise

Noteworthy dev teams:
  • Blizzard -- had great potential, sadly seems to have sold out ever since WarCraft Adventures
  • Bullfrog/Lionhead -- with Peter Molyneux very innovative dev team, sadly that innovation seems to have come to a halt after Black & White
  • Interplay/Troika -- what a waste of potential
  • LucasArts -- used to make great adventures until adventures were found not to be profitable enough anymore
  • Max Design -- died too young
  • Westwood -- made mistakes, bought by EA, died

Origin maybe, but I didn't play many of their games.

Besides, this is really just a quick rundown of the favourites I can think of off the top of my head.

And there's a reason C&C Red Alert 1 is not on that list.

I only really liked C&C TD.

5. DuesX
(nice developed story lines)

It's DEUS EX, FFS. D-E-U-S E-X.

It's LATIN.

Bad enough the merkins can't get it right.

Or when people pronounce it "Deuce Ex", when it's clearly Greek, making it "DAY-us EX".

And aside from the obvious ones of MicroProse and Origin for me, I would like to give a nod to a development studio that might have done better if it's CRPGs were more exposed in the US in the mid-90's, Thalion. The US was needing a game like Albion, and Blue Byte didn't really get to distribute it here worth a damn. There are many aspects of the game that I consider to be close or dead on to classic CRPG gameplay, including a rather familiar speech system before Fallout. Their other games, Amberstar and Ambermoon, should be familiar to those who played them on the Amiga, as they were rather well done.

Due-Sex (in english) or Deux-Sex (in french). :D

Best games - I'll just have to write down from the top of my head what comes to mind, because I'm pretty sure I won't remember all of the great ones I've played.

On PC:
  • Fallout
    Fallout 2
    Jagged Alliance 2
    Tomb Raider
    Tomb Raider 2
    Tomb Raider 3
    Mafia
    Hitman: Silent Assasin
    Deus Ex
    ADOM (Ancient Domains Of Mystery)
    Commandos 2
(I know it's 11 - sue me)

On PSX:
  • Final Fantasy 7
    Tomb Raider
    Tomb Raider 2
    Tomb Raider 3
    Parasite Eve
    Chrono Chross
    Resident Evil 2
    Metal Gear Solid
    Syphon Filter
    Syphon Filter 2

There are a lot of games I'm still out to try, which I'm sure will make in the list (Baldur's Gate and most other Black Isle/Bioware games on that engine), but since I haven't finished any of them, I'm not writing them... except for Jagged Alliance 2 - I believe that if a game for which I've played a german demo (not knowing the language at all) back at 7th grade can stay in my mind as the greatest tactical game I have ever played for years thereafter, I'm pretty sure it won't let me down. A few days in Jagged Alliance and a quick peak at JA2:Wildfire have only strengthened this conviction.

I didn't study Latin for five years to have to endure that kind of heresy.

It's DE-US EX. Dayus Ex if you want to stick to Rosh's somewhat accurate phonetic transcription (although I'm unhappy with the schwa implied by the English language where a short 'oo' should be, not to mention the superfluous 'y').

Sorry if I seem like a Latin nazi, but that's what German Latin class does to you.
