1up, TeamXbox, IGN (twice) preview Fallout 3

Upon entering the city limits I found two peculiar figures arguing with one another. One was dressed in an ant suit, flanked by several giant ants, and called herself the AntAgonizer. The other wore a bucket on his head and some metal armor, had several protectron robots at his side, and referred to himself as the Mechanist.

Holy shit, someone please tell me my eyes are failing me. Is this for real? And it's an actual quest, apparently even a major one for its location, instead of perhaps the world's most fucking stupid easter egg ever?

Maybe after battling the AntAgonizer with my teddy bear gun I can drink from a few toilets to replenish my health. Seriously, this stuff sounds more like Boogerman than Fallout.

I also managed to come out of it with a bucket helmet and a unique ant breastplate

Oh, come on. Even the Bovine Plate in Hellfire was less retarded, and at least Sierra had the decency to make it a secret.

I don't have a problem with the name (what can I say, I like puns) but the breastplate is absurd. If you can make (I'm hoping you don't just pick it up...) a breastplate out of a super ant's shell then will their be a murlock breastplate as well? What about behemoth leather armor? Radscorpion breast plate? If you're going to go down that road (which you shouldn't in Fallout) then at least go down it repeatedly (that way it doesn't look like "This is cool!" design).

Kentucky Fired Movie. Just watched that about 2 weeks ago.

But Detroit fits the bill.

hmmm after checking out the fallout 3 wiki on planet fallout, I have discovered some things:

Aparrently I was wrong- according to them the fisto and the powerfist are two seperate weapons.

Also, Burke is killable:

"[edit] Silenced Pistol
Description: A classic pistol used by hitmen and spies. One way you can get it is if you kill Mr. Burke. I suggest killing him at Tenpenny Tower so no one in Megaton will hate you.
Damage:
Weight:
Value:
Ammo: 9mm pistol bullets"

and before anyone goes psycho, I am sure the line about no one in megaton hating you is a joke.

well it only makes sense that you can kill burke, it seems like the megaton quest is setting you up to choose between the two and obviously everyone in megaton dies if you go with burke

it would be neat if you could get a different ending by playing both sides against each other and killing everyone

Ah, Pope, don't go saying they copied off HL 2. Everybody pays a homage to it. Bioshock, Call of Duty, etc. And I don't remember a green lit antlion cave.

Half Life 2 Episode 1 had a green lit antlion cave.

Sure it's not the Episode 2?

By now I'm trying to keep hope that most of what I hear about Fallout 3 is complete bullshit. This is getting really hard.

AntAgonizer? The Hell? And who was the King of the Roaches guy? If he was some kind of mutant which can control roaches in a hive-mind way, it would be actually quite cool.
