6 New Online Personality Disorders

The Vault Dweller

always looking for water.
http://www.cracked.com/article_17522_6-new-personality-disorders-caused-by-internet.html

The article doesn't just describe the disorders, but tells you how often they occur in real-life and why they are more common online. Obviously a lot of it has to do with anonymity and having a larger audience.

It's worth reading all of it, but as an overview so you can see one's you may be interested in:

-Online Intermittent Explosive Disorder (a.k.a. The Thin-Skinned Rage-o-holic)
-Low Forum Frustration Tolerance (a.k.a. The Frantic Browser Reloader)
-Munchausen by Internet (a.k.a. The Sob Story Teller)
-Online Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (a.k.a. The Grammar Nazi)
-Low Cyber Self-Esteem (a.k.a. The Guy Who Everyone Hates but Who Never Leaves)
-Internet Asperger's Syndrome (a.k.a. The Troll)

I'm sure everyone is a "Low Forum Frustration Tolerance" sufferer when they make a new thread and are excitedly waiting for replys. Just some more than others.

Lame article.
Also actual Asperger's doesn't lend itself to being a troll because the last thing people with actual Asperger's want is an emotional reaction that they don't even understand.

Article destroyed, moving on.

one should also not forget that anonymity or not any kind of dissorder you have in "real life" will eventualy show up in one way or the other in forums as well (as long youre sane enough to write something).

So even the internet is just some form of expansion in the way of communication somewhere and I doubt that it created whole new "dissorders" now but just crated here and there some nuance just like how TV for example created new forms of "addiction" (cant tell me 6 ours a day of porn is "healty") but did not invented a completey new dissorder regarding sexuality for example as dissorders like Sexual addiction particularly in realtion with "breath play" existed already long before the TV was avialable or even invented. Same to the internet. People that already have mental issues for what ever reason are not sick now in some special way cause of the net they just use it to experess their already existing sickness in a different way.

I'm pretty sure the article was meant to be only partly-serious. I did read it mainly as humor and exaggeration.
