A Vault Suit Costume?

If you would do a nice slimfit T it would look pretty decent I think.

Well, if I ever get off my lazy ass you'll know what one would look like. I have all the supplies to do it, have the 13 pattern, ink, and all that jazz, but for some reason I just can't bring myself to actually do it. This weekend, I will try it. Or next weekend... :P

I know people might hate me for this, but I liked the FO3 vault suit alot more than the old FO suits. It looks like something people would actually wear. Spandex just looks bad.

to avoid looking silly I think a blue flight suit would work.

but with less pockets and gay boots.

How many towels does it take to make a Vault Suit? I'm wondering because mine has a fish on it, what the crickets?

here you can find some pictures of a guy wearing 'vault suit' (based on FO3) from polish postapocalyptic LARP "Oldtown".

I have to say, that looks pretty cool, all things considered. Check out the second-to-last pic in the set: combat armor? (That's what I was thinking would look better as far as a fallout cosplay - at least, to have some kind of armor over the vault suit, so you're cosplaying a character a bit more developed / badass rather than FOV (fresh out of the vault).

Well, it IS a jumpsuit so it isn't a regular pants and shirt, the guy in the Vault 13 jumpsuit wasn't too far off, but it was too new and shiny to be the actual one, needs more dirt and sand to match the one in FO.

If someone makes this suit, it should have the armored shoulderpiece, it's really cool.

I made a Vault 13 suit with the armored shoulder piece and belt two years ago. All I used was a blue paintsuit from Lowes and sewn it to fit tighter, using yellow fabric for the stripes and numbers.

Some shots here and here.

What sort of fabric did you use for the number/stripes? I'm thinking about making a similar costume, but I'm having trouble figuring out what sort of fabric to use and where to buy it.

I just went to my local Walmart and just bought a few yards of thin and generic yellow fabric, then I cut it to size. For the belt/straps I bought a "leather texture" fabric. All in all, the fabric only cost me around $10. With costumes, it's best to get the general idea down rather than have the perfect materials. like, I could have spent a lot of money on some rugged looking fabric, but if I'm at a Halloween party not too many people are going to appreciate the excessive attention to detail. (Not to mention that no one knew who or what I was)

If you have any craft stores (AC Moore, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc) or fabric stores (Jo-Ann) around where you live then you'll find some cheap yellow fabric pretty easily.

There's a cool shoe "Cat's Paw" branded shoe repair store near my house (same as the rubber boot heels) with the huge cat's paw logo painted on the windows. So, yeah, if I do finish a costume like that it could be a nice location for a lulzy photo-op.

Take a photo and post it. :)

I actually made one this summer for comiccon. I made an accurate pipboy 2000 also.
Sadly I've been extremely busy with school so I haven't been posting here since. For me I always assumed the suit looked like spandex in the game because wrinkled clothing is so much harder to do and a 3d figure. Especially since this was the beginning of computer animation.
So I went with something realistic for my costume. I used dickies and a cotton shirt to make mine. It's something they could wear everyday and was available at the time. And my pipboy is based on all available reference and matches almost exactly, the specifications in the handbook.

I like the original Pip-Boy, nice work! Now just make it function somehow, some LED light show or something?

It was made from pieces of a storage bin, fiberglass and took forever getting it nearly exact. After working on this thing for so long I kind of lost initiative. Maybe in the future I just finished a mold of it so I can make copies. Maybe with those I'll add working tubes and lights.

Found some other ones, ha:

There are actually a lot more decent Power Armour costumes showing up on google images than there are Vault ones. I guess it makes sense that people like to put more work into the power armour.
