A wishful Throwback

DoubleRubix

First time out of the vault
Remembering Marcus, The NCR, The Brotherhood of Steel as they rightfully should be like. Arcade and the Enclave and the followers of Apocalypse made me think, what would have been some past factions, events, or enemies that you wish could come back. Personally I wish Wanamingos come come back in some way. And I'm curious if anyone else has things they wish could come back. From Previous Released Fallout games. That is Fallout 1, 2, 3, tactics, and BOS. No Van buren stuff since that isn't an officially released Fallout Game.

Winchester City-Killer.
Also, the Highwayman.
Also², towns that were built from scratch and not pre-war ruins that nobody cleaned up even 200 years after the war.

I would love to see Goris again. Also some of the things that were available in New Reno like the Boxing competition or the Porn studio. I always cracked up when i was signed on as a fluffer and caught some disease instantly..the pornstar names were great too so i would've loved to see something along those lines

I'd like to see something like the highwayman return, though more as a method of explaining fast-travel. Maybe have two or three areas as big as the mojave wasteland that you can only get to by using the vehicle.

I would love to have the Boxing Ring again, that was a very fun if simple quest, specialy because my first FO2 character was a Unarmed one.

Seconded.

And as mentioned above, it's surprising that some sort of Boxing quest wasn't added to NV - I mean, the gloves are already there at least.

I was thinking Pig-Rats the other day as well.

And yes boxing ring would have been great. Seems like a total fail not having anything similar in the new games.

For me though, i miss the world-map travel system. Sandbox does nothing for me, too many settlements too close together kinda kills immersion in what should be a "wasteland"/ not to mention breaking one of the best parts of the original games, random and unique/special encounters.

Even though F1/2 had no survival system like NV, it would work better in those worlds. As it is now:

"Oh no, im thirsty! Better walk 5 feet and find 20 bottles of purified water! Whew! That was close!"

It would be better if traveling on an old style map required rations to be brought for the trip.

I miss Huge overworld maps.

Make the next Fallout like 12 places as big as point lookout and then make it a big overworld

Almost all the classic weapons are available as mods, and at least for fallout 3, someone made wanamingoes, but no pigrats...yet.

vid of wanamingo in fallout 3

Bit off topic, but is there a stand alone version of this mod for NV? Every wanamingo mod I've found is packaged with a bunch of other stuff I don't care to install.

Most classic weapon mods are terrible, whether because of poor texturing or mismatched sound/animations... though, usually both.
I don't know, the one I use is quite good. The weapons look fine, some are a wee bit overpowered, but all in all it works quite well.

Now this is REALLY wishful, but I'd love to see Cassidy once again. Just some proof that he's still alive and kickin' would warm my heart.
Also, I third Goris. He's my second favorite companion.

I'm not sure whether you're aware of this (and thus the "REALLY wishful"), but Cassidy isn't alive and kickin', IIRC. Cass seems to indicate that her father isn't around anymore, if not state it outright.

As to the original topic, I'd love a chance to re-visit The Glow (although <s>pessimistically</s>realistically speaking, there's absolutely no way that they could get it right anymore. Radiation has gone from "the phantom killer of the old world" to "kinda irritating," and abandoned old-world tech facilities seem to be a bottle cap a dozen these days, which would make West-Tek a lot less special. Plus, the exclusion zone around the site is probably about a third of the size of the entire game area of New Vegas).

IF they could re-capture the magic, though, I'd be all for it. DLC, maybe?

I really liked how the area around the Glow looked in the world map.
Wonderfully apocalyptic. Scorched earth, lava streams like bleeding wounds... Sadly, it didn't look like that in the actual maps.
Still, that's actually how I imagined the Divide.
