Does that place me above or below the Holder of Ratty's Eternal Respect?

Below. But you too can become a Holder of my Eternal Respect - you just need to impress me enough.

Explored these last week. Not quite abandoned as they look- they is a production of Shakespeare's Mid Summer Night's Dream there in two months.

Incidently, for some excellent black and white film in the noir tradition, the Third Man is awesome. Not exactly abandoned but set in post-war Vienna, people live side-by-side to destroyed buildings and much of the action takes place along creepy and empty streets, among ruins, or within the abandoned sewers. Match that with the overall paranoid look and off-angled pictures, it can really set the mood.

Caught in the light.

Interesting stuff. I really like the idea of stuff like cooking pots out and a table set, all abandoned.

Good find, Koots. And yeah, in case nobody noticed, I'm obsessed with abandoned places myself. Relics of a long-forgotten, artificial like Pamela Anderson's breasts, Shining Era of Progress.

Check these out in case you don't know them.

Sort of reminds me of exploring the condemned Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco with some friends back in Halloween 2001. Wish I would've brought a camera... it was one of the eeriest abandoned sites it's ever been my privelege to see, but they tore it down a year later to make way for the new Lucasfilm complex. I haven't been able to find any sort of photo record of the building after it went into decline.

abandoned places are cool as shit. theres a great place to take pics in the old part of my town thats been dead since the 60s. theres alot of factory buildings and a mill thats almost completely covered in cudzoo.

I just moved to a medium-sized town in Texas, and they have an interesting kind of urban sprawl going on where most of the stores are closing down and re-opening in new locations on the good side of the tracks... it makes for a pretty cool night drive, with a good portion of the city being abandoned theaters, strip malls, and so forth. If I can get my digicam working, maybe this information will actually be of some significance.

Man, that hospital was creepy. There's not really any urban exploring where I live... I tried to force my way into some of the nearby military vaults dug into the hills (they're extremely large) but I was stopped by welded shut blast doors and old outposts filled with concrete, denying entry. If there's enough people who want to, I could get my ass up there and take a few pics though.

I've been inside one of the vaults once, but it was pretty boring, as most of it was sealed off (private property now).
