Aliens: Colonial Marines announced.

That facehugger's mouth looks like a vagina.

Other than that, sounds fun.

Herpes, FTW !

It would be so cool if gearbox went for an "open world" design, like a whole colony with missions to do here and there and events happening at precise moments, à la Dead Rising.

Ain't gonna happen my friend. I imagine just another linear shooter. Which is just fine with me, as long as the atmosphere is right for the Alien movies (the two good ones) and some nifty graphics (in terms of graphics I only ask for super good graphics from shooters cause they don't offer me much)

Looks neat.

No. Severe crotch rot.

as linear and basic as it was, AvP 1 was pretty damn awesome when it came to atmosphere.

if they succeed in recreating that i'll be happy.

I read about this game not too long ago. Even though I do wish there were a little more non-FPS games on the market, it looks like fun, and I will probably buy it.

Would you believe, though, that I've never seen the Alien movies?

Guess I'd better get caught up before this game is released...

I wonder, with all those movies that have ripped off the formulas over the years, will Alien and Aliens still have the impact on new audience it had for other people saw these movies years ago and because of that remember them so fondly?

Yes, because H.R. Giger's xenomorph is an unique vision still and his designs in Alien are... well, one of a kind. It's hard to nail down the deciding factor, but... they remain fresh.

Dougly, do things in this order: Watch Alien. Watch Aliens. Play Aliens:CM. Burn Alien 3 and 4 as a sacrifice.

Alien 3 is not THAT bad. It may be based on a scenaristic incoherence but it is not a bad movie. Resurrection can fuck off though...

That may be, I am still pissed that they killed ******

Won't spoil it for Dougly.

Yeah...Not only did they kill ****** but they also killed **** at the beginning.

Anyway, I love David Fincher's work so I guess my opinion is a little biased.

I love alien3. It has some major flaws (especially with character development) but there's just too many great scenes for me not to like it. How beautiful is the birth scene going on simultaneously with the funeral with Dilon's speach? Plus the cool new approach to the alien's looks / moves. And the ending was just perfect I thought.

Anyway, from the screenshots, it looks like the game is just following the Aliens movie scene by scene.

I love the hell out of all the alien movies, despite the many flaws in the sequels (particularly the third and fourth).

I saw alien and aliens as a kid long time ago. never really bothered with 3 because i had heard it sucks, until last week when it came from tv and i was suprised. it was actually pretty decent movie.

I hope Gearbox makes a story with the Aliens that doesn't involve the Company again, the cause of the outbreak being related to one of their experiments that went wrong.

I am so sick of this story concept, in almost every comic, book, and the computer games its always the damn Company.
You would think that by now they finally got a clue and put better security meassures in place.
Its prototype of the Umbrella Company.

Rather, I hope they do something with the Pilots instead.

IMO, Alien 3 would have done better if it was advertised as what it was. I remember the trailers for the said film and after seeing them, I was expecting something similar to Aliens in terms of pacing, action and shock effect. Then came movie itself which was VERY different from what was in the trailers.

About the upcoming game, I wonder how gearbox is going to employ squad mechanics here. I don't think what they did in Brothers In Arms can still be employed on this. I hope they make a decent one, as most squad based shooters nowadays are always riddled with stupid companion AIs (Kane and Lynch comes into mind)

I found out today that Aliens: Colonial Marines and the RPG (if it is still being made) is postponed until next year.

It rather annoys me as those were one of the few games I had somewhat interest in, still being a fan of the franchise after the disaster of Alien Resurrection, AVP1 and AVP2.

Is there any confirmation yet that the RPG is canceled?
