Re: Addictions: "Not drugs"

What are you addicted to? How do you know if you are addicted to it?
I smoke a pack (sometimes more) a day and always turn angry when there's no cigarettes left - am I addicted?

Hmm... the prices still increase in my country (I bet not in my only), maybe I'll cut that shit out. But damn, I really like it!

I am fortunate not to have an addictive personality (although I haven't looked up the precise definition of addiction). For example, I rarely have alcohol or even caffeine, soon tire of video games and can live without chocolate, although I sure as hell wont. What I can't live without is music, but then I can never lose that unless I suffer from some serious head injury or something similarly bad. It would also be terrible if I couldn't go swimming or take long walks by the sea. I can be a tiny bit obsessive when it comes to research. You can get addicted to pretty much anything, but I don't think I am addicted.

Well I am addicted to coffee, hot chocolate, and coca cola, what's weird, is that they are all drinks,
and of course the computers and porn, but that's about it.

Hmm. If we're not supposed to be mentioning drugs, why are so many people saying "Caffeine", "Coffee", "Coca Cola", "Cigarettes" and the like? Is it not the chemical component(s) (ie. the drug(s)) of those that have such an effect on you?

For me: Pornography and the downloading of it (like many others, I hoard) and masturbation. Probably a few other things, but I can't bring any to mind.

I also need to know that my hands are clean ('cept when I am in the middle of a task) pretty much all the time, which, at it's worst, involves checking them every few seconds. But that is more of a compulsion than an addiction and it extends to other, similar, compulsions.

Oh, if we are mentioning them, caffeine (usually as coffee) and probably alcohol.

In fact, I've just realised I said pretty much the same thing in the previous thread. *Shrug*

OMG yes thank you for mentioning that as I wouldnt have been able to phrase it properly.

Thing is I cant start something without finishing it even if it becomes tedious and a waste of time simply, because I dont want to waste what was already invested in it.

This applies to games, books, and various projects.

Other than that since it might not count being an addiction I'd say the internet. Not specifically email, chatting, forums, or games, but all of them combined equal the greatest entertainment and information exchange I've very had.

I used to be addicted to caffeine, but in the past year I've toned down to only one can a day and feel much better.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

*EDIT*

...to all you Porn addicts out there...why waste time and money on stuff online when you can just stare at coworkers/classmates? I deduce that you have little imagination...

You know that staring people is impolite, as is watching them doing things to each others, but that's why the porn was invented  only the polite people can be porn addicted.

Didn't see that coming, did you? :D

And are you even sure that we even have any go-workers, or even jobs :( The_Staring_Dweller.

I find porn makes for a healthier obsession.

Constantly fantasising about colleagues can make it strange working with them. I know this from high school.

Plus, not everybody has attractive co-workers.

Having sex with them all also makes it strange to work with them. I know this from Polytechnic.
Yeah, I never quite progressed to that stage.
